* SATURN USE: If you will be using this in a Saturn it is important you select the correct Type. Unfortunately there is no guaranteed way by looking at the outside of the system to know which Type to choose. This will require you to open your Saturn to determine which Type you need by unscrewing the Saturn and opening it up. CLICK HERE for a guide on how to determine which Type to choose

E) CLONE / MODIFIED CONSOLES – Flash carts / ODEs were developed and intended to be used on un-modified original hardware using original hardware accessories. Stone Age Gamer does not guarantee flash cart / ODE operation on clone consoles or modified consoles. Flash carts / ODEs may operate on some clone consoles or modified consoles. However, due to power consumption changes, random hardware changes and/or firmware updates of those consoles we cannot offer a guarantee of flash cart compatibility. Any returns due to incompatibility with clone consoles or modified consoles will result in no refund of any shipping costs and a 10% restocking fee if no defect is found during testing.

    Great Replacement for Original CD Drive

    This is a great replacement for my dying CD drive on my model 2 Saturn. Installation is pretty straight forward. Even a novice could install this with basic knowledge. I'm also interested to see what TerraOnion might do with the expansion slot on this device. Loading games is fairly quick as well compared to using discs. Initially I had problems even running USB thumb drives or a micro SD card just using the 5V power from the Saturn mainboard. I had to purchase a separate plug and play power board from Mobius Strip Technologies to use any kind of storage. Kind of annoying when you pay this much and you have to buy something else to get it to work. Would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for this issue.

    Wonderful! I just can't say how good mode is, my saturn turned into a new console. I didn't need to worry about model or soldering, the installation is simple and before you knew you will be using your saturn more than your newgen consoles. Now I need to buy another one for my dreamcast.

    This is going to be a two-way review, I'll start with the mode itself, it's awesome, with the recent updates the fact that it supports 3 different systems makes it it very worth its asking price. The different sorting views works nice on the DC but is slower on the others but still looks great. The main reason to buy this in my opinion is the sata interface,its the only ode with one. The second part of this is about stone age, they are fast in shipping and have always been super helpful in dealing with some issues that have come up for me.

    This thing is just fantastic. Revived my Sega Saturn to it's full glory. With album cover support and a full size SSD this is a must have for any Saturn owners who want a great mod.

    LOVE the product, I've found no glitches yet. Solderless installation, although i found it easier to solder the optional 5v power cable.a great mod for those who do not solder and a great solution to the unique cd size and format that dreamcast used. It's great and I advise the optional mount to anyone with doubts. It makes everything fit perfect.

    Great Product in Sega Saturn Model 2

    I love this product. Using a microSD card in a Sega Saturn Model 2. This has played everything I've thrown at it, no complaints here. I never got into collecting for the Saturn because the prices are insane, but I'm thoroughly enjoying exploring the Saturn Library. Not to mention it's a pretty easy installation. Love it, solid purchase.

    For reference, using with an NTSC-J Model 1 (Gray w/ Blue Oval Buttons) Type B (21-pin) Saturn as well as a Dreamcast.

    Bought because my disc drive has an issue where it will load games just fine, but if the Saturn has been running for a while before trying to switch to another game, it would fail to recognize the disc as a game and switch to play the CD audio. Have not had this issue since installing the MODE.

    Installation was easy if not slightly more involved than "plug and play," but the thing that always caught my eye with this was the fact that it didn't require any soldering - a skill I'll have to pick up at some point but I wanted to give this a shot in the meantime. I used the 3D-printed bracket sold by Stone Age Gamer after confirming which type my Saturn was - and I do recommend opening it up and checking beforehand if you have a Model 1, you never know! - and it sits nice and secure.

    You have three options for storage - a micro SD card slot, a USB slot, and a slot for hard drives. Eventually I would like to grab a small SSD since these games' sizes start to add up, but for now I'm using an SD card. Originally, I wanted to try to use a flash drive for the USB connection but they have to have a very thin profile to fit - mine did not.

    Once my games were loaded onto the storage, they ran just fine with no issues. Auto-region patch means that my NTSC and NTSC-J games load up with no issues, something I occasionally had issues with the Action Replay Plus cartridge I used before. I really enjoy being able to play some of my imported games with translation patches applied - specifically Sakura Wars and Policenauts in my case.

    Only real downside I've encountered so far is the inaccessibility of retrieving your storage device without having to open up the console again. More of a small gripe, but I'd be lying if I said that it wasn't an inconvenience.

    This is primarily used in my Saturn and it works flawlessly. I also tried in my Dreamcast to see how it fairs against the GDEMU, and its just so much easier to use. I will likely end up buying an additional MODE just to keep in my Dreamcast at all times.
