* SATURN USE: If you will be using this in a Saturn it is important you select the correct Type. Unfortunately there is no guaranteed way by looking at the outside of the system to know which Type to choose. This will require you to open your Saturn to determine which Type you need by unscrewing the Saturn and opening it up. CLICK HERE for a guide on how to determine which Type to choose

PlayStation:

E) CLONE / MODIFIED CONSOLES – Flash carts / ODEs were developed and intended to be used on un-modified original hardware using original hardware accessories. Stone Age Gamer does not guarantee flash cart / ODE operation on clone consoles or modified consoles. Flash carts / ODEs may operate on some clone consoles or modified consoles. However, due to power consumption changes, random hardware changes and/or firmware updates of those consoles we cannot offer a guarantee of flash cart compatibility. Any returns due to incompatibility with clone consoles or modified consoles will result in no refund of any shipping costs and a 10% restocking fee if no defect is found during testing.

    Why buy this from Stone Age Gamer?

    When looking at my options to buy a MODE i opted to go with Stone Age Gamer, rather than pay a bit less from TERRAONION directly, in doing so i got my equipment very quickly, and got some prize tickets which i used to buy some new sega genesis controllers! The packaging was bomb proof, the man in customer service Andy Harsh was very very helpful and should be named Andy SMOOTH

    Sega Saturn lives on - and in luxury!

    So I purchased the MODE for my Sega Saturn system and had a huge amount of problems getting it up and running.

    The Install was a breeze. I just followed the instructions included and it went exactly as pictured. I initially set up an SD card to test it out and it was all wonky. I spent a couple of days reformatting and reflashing the card to no avail. I even tore it all out and installed the system again from scratch. I finally jumped on their Discord channel and almost immediately after posting my issue I had a dev asking me all about my setup, what games weren't running, what firmware... all of it. He spent about 4 hours of his own time one on one with me sending me new flash files to test and working out if the MODE was defective. It turns out my old Saturn had a burned out VDP2 processor. The system would boot and even run certain games but the majority of the library was inaccessible because of this.

    I replaced my console and everything worked like a dream(cast) - sorry could not resist! Customer service is EXCELLENT and that alone would make me a return customer.

    My MODE is running in a Sega Saturn with the latest firmware from an SSD and I could not be happier with everything. I would do it all again - even the frustrating parts.

    Perfect laser replacement

    I have a few reto consoles, all needing fixing, not reading discs anymore. My twitch viewers all chipped in to get me this MODE. I love it. I have it set up to be able to swap between the 3 systems it can do, saturn, dreamcast, ps1. Each system has its own hard drive as I loaded them up. To swap between systems , do take your time as there are ribbons and wires to swap around.

    For those wondering , it isn't that hard to do dreamcast and saturn. The guide is very helpful.
    Ps1 on the other hand, you do need to solder a lot of points and lift some chip wires. I am no solder expert , but did my install first try with a fin point iron and exacto knife.

    I have two for both Saturn and Dreamcast and it is totally worth it. Every game I throw it at it seems to work without a hitch and the UI with cover art makes it a pleasure to browse through games, including sorting by genre etc. It clearly shows that Terraonion put a lot of care into this. If you're on the fence, don't be! This is a must have IMO.

    This is my second purchase at stoneagegamer I am very satisfied.The product arrived in Brazil and was not taxed, this site is the best option for shopping for Flashcards and ODE from the internet.

    Great product! Works perfectly on my Saturn model 1 NTSC- US 21-pin. Installation is simple i needed to use the wires that came with the product to use the SSD and connect to the PSU to get the 5 volts and change the position of the switch to EXT.

    Worked well with Action Replay Plus v 2.02 + 4MB of RAM .

    I tested games in .img and .bin format and games with several bin files like Mortal kombat Trilogy that I downloaded and came with 13 bin files, I didn't need to do anything MODE read the game perfectly and the audio worked in the game without any problems.

    Recommended For DC Even If Your GD Drive Is Still Functional

    As someone who has owned a Dreamcast since its 1999 launch, I've had to keep no fewer than five Dreamcasts around, simply because their drives all eventually wore out and suffered recurrent disc read error issues.

    The MODE will greatly increase the life of your console by taking its most failure-prone component, ie its disc drive, out of the equation. On the Dreamcast, it was easy for even an electronics dilettante like me to tear down and swap out. No soldering or system BIOS modifications required. Just download TerraOnion's custom firmware, install it onto the properly-formatted hard drive of your choice, transfer your game files, snap it into the GD drive's controller port, screw it all back together, and you're gold!

    And with that, no more burning data-compressed CDs so you play those obscure titles you missed during its life... No more adjusting the potentiometer whenever the laser fails to read the disc... No need to risk diminishing the value of your Resident Evil 2 copy just by playing it!

    - One note, Stone Age Gamer's optional installation bracket is recommended only if you plan to put it in either a VA1 model Dreamcast or a unit with a Noctua or other custom-made fan. The bracket is too large for the larger fan assembly of the VA0 to accommodate.

    Easy to install with no soldering! Allows me to play the fan-translated Sakura Taisen on actual hardware!
