PLEASE NOTE: Adapters are needed if using this with a Model 1 Sega Genesis, Sega Saturn, or Sony Playstation 1.  Please use those links if needing more than 1 adapter.  

The Genesis YPbPr Component Cable will make every game from Altered Beast to Zero Wing look like you've never seen it before. A standard composite Sega Genesis cable results in blurry text, color smearing, and the loss of some of the original detail. But HD Retrovision YPbPr cables provide a clean, white balanced image that is crisp and clear. Use them on an HDTV that supports 240p, or on a standard-definition CRT for that classic look.!

The Genesis YPbPr cable has a Model 2 style plug, compatible with later editions of the Genesis. We also offer an adapter that converts this plug to work on the Model 1 Genesis and Master System, as well as adapters for several other consoles. The Genesis cable also includes a stereo upgrade jack to simplify audio connectivity. Using a male-to-male 3.5mm audio cable, it is simple to upgrade your standalone Model 1 Genesis or combination 32X/Sega CD unit to stereo audio.

The following charts contain a list of tested and confirmed console models which have been verified to work with the Genesis YPbPr Cable and Model 1 adapter. The intent of these lists is to give a general idea of what types of consoles can work with the cable and adapter, and are not exhaustive. Therefore, we expect the cable to work with even more models and console types than what is listed, but we are unable to explicitly put them in the list unless functionality is directly confirmed by us.

    The quality of the cables is phenomenal. It was definitely worth the money. It was also extremely versatile, as Krikzz uses this port for all of his RGB expansions. It also works for the Playstation 1 and Sega Saturn with correct adapters.

    The Gold Standard For CRT Retrogaming

    These are extremely high-quality cables, reflected in the price. The most benefit will be seen when hooking to a CRT with component inputs. The picture quality is absolutely sharp as can be. Given that the Genesis 9-pin DIN cables have become the standard connection for retrogaming on a number of RGB-modded consoles, these cables are a great investment. The RCA connectors have just the right amount of grab, and conveniently there`s a few inches of flexible wire at the RCA end, while the rest of the cable is pretty strong and stiff. Cable sag is definitely something to keep in mind here. Comes with a built-in switch that adds or removes 75ohms of resistance so you can configure the brightness to the signal coming from your console.

    I own a Sega Genesis Model 2 that I have owned since childhood and have never used anything better than composite RCA cables. Even on a Sony Trinitron CRT the graphics looked awful compared to other systems that used composite. I was a little skeptical about the overall improvement these cables would make and was debating on also getting a modification done if I was still unhappy with the audio/visual quality this cable provided. I was blown away at how much better the picture quality improved just by switching to the HD Retrovision cable. I was expecting some improvement, but this went beyond my expectations. I was so impressed by the video quality these cables provided, that I went ahead and ordered not only the PS1 adapter for the Genesis cables, but also purchased the HD Retrovision cables designed for the SNES. If you are someone who wants the best quality picture possible without having to modify or tamper with your system/console don`t hesitate to get these cables. More expensive than regular cables, but once you try these bad boys out, you`ll never go back to standard cables :)

    My Tower of Power got an upgrade

    I’ll be honest that the price of these cables put me off at first, but after getting them and trying them out, I can say it was definitely worth it! The games look so crisp and clean and it’s really nice having the input jack on the cable for taking audio from my Model 1 Genesis so I can have stereo sound. Would recommend this to any retro enthusiast who wants the best quality output from a stock console

    The cable it`s pretty solid, you can feel the quality since you take it out of the box. The quality displayed it`s definitely better than S-Video OEM cable (from Sony). I`m really happy with it!

    Since the Genesis doesn`t natively support Component video, my expectations did not match the quality of the actual product. I have come to trust products made by HD Retrovision, and decided to give these a go. The quality is AMAZING. The difference is incredible. Get these right away if you`re a Genesis owner!

    Great cable! The image quality is vastly superior to that of other cables. No degraded signal, no color distortion. Just works great. Combine with the Retotink 5x for an amazing image on modern flat panel displays. Highly recommended!!!!
