HD Retrovision Sony Playstation 1 Adapter - Use with Genesis 2 Cable

Finally, after an epic journey, HD Retrovision was able to support the original PlayStation! This adapter converts the male 9-pin mini-DIN connector on the Genesis YPbPr cable to a male PlayStation 12-pin connector.

The specific list of known supported consoles can be found here. Though it may work with others that haven't been tested, it cannot be guaranteed.

Although the PlayStation adapter will work with PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 consoles, RGB/SCART output needs to be enabled in the system menu and even then it can only operate properly in the standard definition video modes (240p/288p/480i/576i). Additionally, the built-in DVD/Blu-ray Player application in these consoles is restricted from using RGB/SCART mode, so DVD/Blu-ray playback won't display properly when set to this mode. If this missing functionality is important to you, we recommend waiting for the HD Retrovision PS2/PS3 YPbPr cable which we hope to offer soon.

NOTE: This product requires an HD Retrovision Genesis YPbPr Cable. It will not work with a SNES YPbPr cable or any other cable.

Your television or display must be able to support "240p" video over YPbPr to use this product. Please test your specific equipment using this simple test procedure. This test should be run for each console with which you wish to use with our cables.

    The converter works wonderfully with the Genesis cables in conjunction with the Retrotink 2x Pro, making the picture look great on flat screen TVs (the way the Retrotink always does:)). The adapter fits very snugly in the back of the console; and, while I`d say the connection with the Genesis cable jack is certainly secure, it`s best to keep it from getting jostled too much. I`d even recommend keeping it rested across a flat surface. (For reference, its fit is identical to that of the Genesis Model 1 adapter for the same component cable, normally used for the Model 2.)

    Bought this adapter in conjunction with the Genesis component cable for my original PlayStation console. What a difference compared to composite! Couldn`t be happier!

    I have a PSOne and this small adapter is the simplest change to do with such a huge difference in picture quality. Especially since there are not a lot of mods for the PSOne (PSOne not PS1)

    The PS1 converter from the Sega Genesis component cable made my old full-size PS1 look amazing on my trinitron. Huge shoutout to the retrotink discord for turning me on to this.

    To get the best image out of your original hardware without upgrade, you need this adapter along with the Genesis cable! Games look so much better than with typical composite or RF cables.

    This adapter does do the job in hooking up your Genesis cables to the PS1, but it's a tenuous connection. Comes loose pretty easily.

    Works just as advertised, this paired with the component cable is a nice upgrade over the S-Video cable I had been using.
