Compatibility:

The xStation can be installed into these original PlayStation series of consoles:

  • SCPH-100x
  • SCPH-3xxx
  • SCPH-5xxx

This xStation comes with both a PU-8 and PU-18 PCB, which will make it compatible with the models below.

100X Quick Solder Board v1a (PU-8) Compatibility:

  • Most SCPH-1001*
  • Most SCPH-1002*
  • Most SCPH-3000*
  • Most SCPH-3500*
  • All SCPH-5000

* Some of the PlayStation models use an early version of the PU-8, which unfortunately is not compatible. To determine which PU-8 version you have you must open up your PS1 and look for the number on the board. An early version would be X-XXX-XXX-11, and would be incompatible. If there is another number instead of 11 ast the end (21, 22, 23 or 41) it is compatible (the X's are also numbers, they are just not relevant).

550X Quick Solder Board v1a (PU-18) Compatibility:

  • All SCPH-5001
  • All SCPH-5500
  • All SCPH-5501
  • All SCPH-5502
  • All SCPH-5503
  • All SCPH-5552

A nice overview of the different models and motherboards can be found in this wiki.

More information as well as detailed installation instructions can be found in the official wiki.

Fantastic mod kit, I have very little issues getting it installed, just be sure to read everything before you purchase - not all PS1 boards are the same!

Absolutely great, my first mod and was a little worried but I got it first try thanks to the ease of the kit. I bought the last one in stock and will be buying more when back in stock to do one for my brother’s. Also will be buying there other kits because they ship fast and have good prices.

    Quick delivery to Europe.
Great piece of tech and easy to build in if you`re skilled.
I would have liked to have some info going along with the package in stead of having to google everything myself. But in the end it worked out great.

Works Great, simple install and setup. I 3d printed a mount that would allow me to insert the SD card directly without the extension.

    This thing is crazy awesome

Posted by Stevenrun on Jul 31st 2024

The laser in my original PlayStation was at the end of its life, and struggling to play pressed discs, and my totally legitimate backups weren`t working at all.

Feeling confident in my soldering and QFP leg-lifting skills, I decided to get one of these for my original PlayStation and give it a go installing myself.

Installation is challenging. If you have the right tools and patience it isn`t too bad, but this is probably not a good candidate for your first ever mod project. Once you get the legs lifted on the chip and the tiny SMD components removed, getting the QSB soldered down isn`t bad at all.

The product itself is amazing. I have a 128GB card half-full of games and I`ve been trying out everything. Any game I have thrown at it works great. Load times seem a little quicker too. Playing some Street Fighter Alpha 3, the loading is noticeable, but not as annoying as I remember. Definitely far better than a dying laser assembly!

Pair this with a Memcard Pro 2 for the ultimate setup

I could not be happier or having more fun with my old PS1. Definitely consider this to breathe new life into your old system.
