Basic Edition vs. Deluxe Edition

The Basic Edition comes with just the FXPAK Pro cartridge with a gray back label in the selected style or configuration covered by a 1-year Warranty. Whereas the Deluxe Edition includes the cartridge with gold back label, a case, printed manual, an FXPAK Pro sticker, Stone Age Gamer sticker, and is covered by a 2-year Warranty.

Features

  • microSD supported (tested up to 64GB; no exFAT support so SDXC cards must be reformatted using FAT32).
  • Fast ROM loading (~9MB/s).
  • Fast menu navigation.
  • Directories are sorted automatically, no need for FAT sorting tools.
  • High resolution menu (512×224) for adequate display of long file names.
  • Real Time Clock.
  • Supports ROM size up to 128MBit (96Mbit actually implemented).
  • Automatic near-time SRAM saving to SD Card (while the game runs). Some limitations apply:
    • near-time saving is switched to periodic saving when a game is found to use the SRAM as work RAM.
    • Automatic saving is disabled when MSU1 is used. SRAM is saved on reset.
    • Enhancement chip support (see below for implementation status).
  • SuperCIC key (SNES CIC clone):
    • enables operation on unmodified consoles of all regions.
    • supports software 50/60Hz switching on SuperCIC enhanced consoles only (to be performed by FXPAK firmware, not yet implemented there).
    • Auto region patching: eliminates “This Game Pak is not designed…” messages regardless of 50/60Hz setting.

Supported Enhancement Chips

  • BS-X memory map / Satellaview base unit registers (clock)
  • DSP1 / 1b

    Almost Perfect

Posted by Seth Forsman on Mar 6th 2021

I purchased the All Region shell for mine, but the fit isn't quite right for a US SNES. When the cart is inserted into the system, the hole in the cart for the peg that lock it in when the power button is switched doesn't line up, preventing powering on the system. This is simply resolved by pulling the cart out slightly, but it feels off. That said, that's the only problem I have with the cart. Otherwise, it's a very amazing product and I am happy with it in every way except the minor annoyance described above.

FXPAK Pro Classic and Retro Future Deluxe Edition (Japan/Europe)

Posted by Otto Vaessen on Nov 23rd 2020

I have ordered two FXPAK Pro cartridges from Stoneagegamer one month ago. A FXPAK Pro Classic and a FXPAK Pro Retro Future. Both in a deluxe edition with light pipes. The two cartridges were delivered to my homeaddress in the Netherlands in a protective storage case and a full color printed manual. It was a pity that Stoneagegamer changed the name of the cartridge from SD2SNES Pro to FXPAK Pro. In addition, the cartridge has difficulty with the SNES game Contra III the Alien Wars (Super Probotector Alien Rebels). In the second field the game freezes and glitters provides a completely black screen. The much cheaper “Super 70 in 1 Game Cartridge 16-Bit MultiCart EUR-PAL” that I bought at a retrogame shop around the corner, could run that game well. Nevertheless, I do give this cartridge the maximum rating of five stars. I do this because these are one of the few MSD flashdrives for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System that can be updated with firmware updates. Many problems can be solved in the future as many problems are software related. In addition this everdrive plays homebrews ROMs. It is region neutral and plays all ROMs from Europe, America and Japan.
