WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SD2SNES PRO?

The "SD2SNES Pro" was re-branded to "FXPAK Pro" due to a trademark conflict. The FXPAK Pro still is the same great product, just with a new name!

This is the All Region Black Base version of the Super Famicom and SNES (it will fit into Japanese, European & North American systems). This cartridge comes assembled in a black universal shell and a Basic-style label.

Ever dream of having your whole library of SNES or SFC games in a single cartridge? The FXPAK Pro allows you to load your game back-ups (commonly known as ROMs) on a microSD card, put the microSD card into the FXPAK Pro, put the FXPAK Pro into a SNES or Super Famicom and have your list of games at your finger tips. Please read the FLASH CART DISCLAIMER below before purchasing.

Basic Edition vs. Deluxe Edition

The Basic Edition comes with just the FXPAK Pro cartridge with a gray back label in the selected style or configuration covered by a 1-year Warranty. Whereas the Deluxe Edition includes the cartridge with gold back label, a case, printed manual, an FXPAK Pro sticker, Stone Age Gamer sticker, and is covered by a 2-year Warranty.

Features

  • FREE DIGITAL GAME: Blow 'em Out
  • microSD supported (tested up to 64GB; no exFAT support so SDXC cards must be reformatted using FAT32).
  • Fast ROM loading (~9MB/s).
  • Fast menu navigation.
  • Directories are sorted automatically, no need for FAT sorting tools.
  • High resolution menu (512×224) for adequate display of long file names.
  • Real Time Clock.
  • Supports ROM size up to 128MBit (96Mbit actually implemented).
  • Automatic near-time SRAM saving to SD Card (while the game runs). Some limitations apply:
    • near-time saving is switched to periodic saving when a game is found to use the SRAM as work RAM.
    • Automatic saving is disabled when MSU1 is used. SRAM is saved on reset.
    • Enhancement chip support (see below for implementation status).
  • SuperCIC key (SNES CIC clone):
    • enables operation on unmodified consoles of all regions.
    • supports software 50/60Hz switching on SuperCIC enhanced consoles only (to be performed by FXPAK firmware, not yet implemented there).
    • Auto region patching: eliminates “This Game Pak is not designed…” messages regardless of 50/60Hz setting.

Supported Enhancement Chips

  • BS-X memory map / Satellaview base unit registers (clock)
  • DSP1 / 1b
  • DSP2
  • DSP3

    FX-PACK PRO

Posted by John Miller on Jul 21st 2022

I went ahead and got the deluxe FX-Pack Pro and a few things of note happened. The required kernels came preinstalled on the sd card I ordered with the cart and that made working with this super convenient. The stone age gamer case looks very nice in my game library at home and gives a proper CIB feel.

The cart itself is functionally fantastic. Krikzz blows me away with every everdrive type cart I have tried is including this one. I have tried several roms that would require SNES special chips such as Star Fox and it runs them no problem. Modified roms work fantastic as well. As advertised it really does run nearly everything but a tiny handful of games.

While I recommend using the cart on original hardware I did find it worked on my hyperkin retron2HD. It worked flawlessly on my SNES.

Overall I give this product a 10/10. Near perfect convenience for someone managing a large physical game library like myself.

This is by far the best solution for playing ROM-hacks on the original Hardware. The firmware development ist still active and more functions are getting added. Definitely worth the price.

    Works great!

Posted by Eli Roth on Nov 22nd 2021

Everything works as expected. So far every game I loaded onto here seems to work fine. I like the design as well, it looks cool. The tutorial and how to set up the micro sd card is very simple. The UI is pretty good and it's easy to find the game you want as long as you organize your games well. Would recommend

    Perfect

Posted by Joe on Sep 16th 2021

Bought this to keep my old carts safe from damage. Plays everything perfectly, and with the addition of save states it saves me time if I mess up. Works great in both my original snes and analogue super nt. The black case upgrade from stoneage keeps everything look great. You won't be disappointed when you buy this.

    FXPack Pro

Bought this to run homebrew on real harware. I seem to have acquired 3 Japanese famicoms. I bought one which was flaky and I didn't know if I could fix it..got another to use which was rock solid and acquired a broken 3rd together with a PS1. The cart works well on all 3 and using the test software, I was able to fix the 2nd one. I never owned a SNES having a Mega Drive as a kid (with 3 games;P)...so far it has been good to play games on original hardware.

    High Quality, but some issues.

Posted by CH on Jun 21st 2021

It works perfectly as advertised. Getting the firmware was a bit of a pain, and I've yet to find a way to get savestates to work on it though. Absolutely worth the price though.

    Incredible Value

Posted by ManicSocratic on Apr 22nd 2021

The expansion chip support built into the FXPak Pro makes it a value like no other. I don't have to take time & mental effort to carefully cross-reference a list of games that aren't compatible. I just drop games into the MicroSD card and play them. That ease of use is worth picking this up over other SNES flash carts.
