Great quality for a great price

    Posted by Retro_Emulation_Nation on Jun 10th 2021

One of the main reasons why I avoided getting a GameCube for the longest time was the obscene prices of the official Nintendo component cables.

When the first EON GCHD devices were first released, I thought they were still too expensive.

Enter Insurrection Industries' Carby, which is a great affordable solution and the video and audio output is absolutely amazing. One would think it's an internal HDMI upgrade. And since many GameCube games carry Dolby Pro Logic II audio, they were interpreted perfectly by my Yamaha Aventage home theater.

Plus the fact that they come with GCVideo 3.0d firmware preinstalled makes upgrading to later firmwares (version 3.0e) very, very easy.

I cannot recommend this highly enough! And for those concerned about potential stress to the GameCube's Digital Port, do check out Retro Frog's 3D printed support brace.

Excellent product just like their cables. Plug and play solution thats works well and makes a dramatic difference. The cost is steep but well worth the investment. Would recommend and purchase again if needed.

The Carby put's out a great picture and lets you use the GameCube's 480p mode. The picture tweaking features round it out nicely. Definitely recommend!

    Great Device for my GC

Posted by Eric W. on Mar 22nd 2021

Recently modded my device with GC loader, SD2SP, GBA player, old skool digital GC controller, and a good ol' wavebird. I have been playing Melee non-stop and it feels like the early 2000s again. This device brings the best out of the GC and more. The best addition over other version or makes of this device is the remote and access to the firmware, it just makes the whole upgrading experience feel complete. On top of the Stone age Gamer is just a wonderful website to work with. 10/10

    Keep playing on a CRT

Posted by Andrew on Mar 5th 2021

Felt like I wasted money. Very disappointed in this Insurrections product. If you have a CRT, just keep using that. The CARBY is no where near as crisp or steady as the standard, cheap, Nintendo S-Video cable. Not even close. The line doubler even negated the small gain it may have had on flat screens, and even re-introduced the shakes. If you ONLY have HDTVs, Your money would be better invested on a nice Consumer grade CRT with S-Video inputs. (I have a Panasonic 32 inch, not a PVM)

    An amazing video solution

Posted by Kevin Willingham on Nov 11th 2020

Build quality is a great and it is amazing to get 480p out my GCN games without using a Wii or shelling out a lot of money. Signal over HDMI works really well and the options from the GCVideo project are a great bonus. Remote is a little touchy so hopefully that doesn't become an issue later.

Simple plug and play. Options through the included remote but the standart config is already great. Enjoying my cube as I haven't for a looong time!
