    Great RGB cable

Posted by Richard Gillum on Mar 20th 2026

Want to tell a small story with this review!! Good experience and great cable. My Genesis model 2, which was my original system, I got for Christmas and somewhere around 1993 finally started to go out... it just randomly freezes (not cartridges) and I haven`t had time to troubleshoot or try to repair it. so I went to a local game store and bought a Genesis model 1. which is something I wanted anyway because I have recently set up an RGB Retro Gaming set up with a nice PVM. All that being said, I`ve been slowly getting RGB cables with the scart interface and I needed one for my Genesis model 1. I bought this one and I use Stone Age gamer because I have great experiences in the past with them. Super fast shipping super fast responses on any emails or questions as well. so I am pretty much a dedicated customer now. This is a fantastic cable. It is well-built. I have one for my Saturn as well through Insurrection Industries.

When I got the cable in, I hooked everything up and was super excited. Turned on and the screen was pretty much yellow tinted. DRAT! well I quickly determined that the blue channel was missing through a blue check and troubleshooting. I thought it was the cable... I immediately assumed that because everything else worked fine. it was either the cable or the Genesis right? but wait... the Genesis worked fine through RCA and Svideo so it had to be the cable right??
I struggled with packing it up and asking for a return so that I could either get a refund or swap it out for another one... but that tinkering side of me just couldn`t let it go.. so I took the plastic shroud off and heavily checked all of the connections and solder points. I specifically looked up which pin was the blue signal and everything looked perfectly fine... so maybe it was my RGB switch? Switched ports and to no avail, the screen was yellow. I did not have another Genesis model 1 to test.... so my last resort was to take Genesis apart and kind of check everything over. maybe there was a cold or crack solder joint somewhere right? I took this thing apart which probably had never been cracked open since it`s original manufacturer 40 years ago. didn`t really see anything wrong on the motherboard but around the AV Port there was a small piece of metal that could have been jammed in there or dropped in through the cartridge port at any point over the last 40 years. It was around the motherboard and on top of the mounting standoffs and RF Shield so it looks like it was making some kind of a connection or a short with some of the contacts. I had no clue what it was so, I just took it out and put the whole Genesis back together. voila everything works beautifully. I guess the point to this long story is that the cable should not have been questioned. it was that good of quality and I want to stress how impressed I am with this cable and for any of us who are retro Gamers we are probably have some small knack for troubleshooting this stuff just think about all of the things like this before jumping to conclusions like I almost did.

    Great cable.

    Works very clear picture

Works on My VA6 Model and VA2 Model 1. Better than using composite AV on Retrotink 5X Pro hooked up to HDTV

    Insurrection Cable

Posted by Steven on Nov 12th 2025

Cable works as advertised, im getting a clean CSYNC signal out of my Retrotink 4K and pure RGB video from my PVM 20M2U.

The whole thing is wired via Mega Drive model 1 + Stereo while connected to an RGB Panasonic 3DO. Excellent quality build 5-stars!

    Great quality!

This cable is grade A quality. Works perfectly for my Sega Genesis. The audio jack cable is plenty long to reach the front audio jack for full stereo sound! I`d recommend this to anybody who needs a SCART connection with audio to their entertainment center!

    Great Cable!

This cable provides a sharp image and works great. It pulls audio from the headphone jack so you get stereo sound. I would definitely buy cables from here again!

    Such an improvement over composite

Posted by Devon Cooley on Jan 18th 2025

I`ve been slowly building up my retro setup, trying to get my older consoles to run through my Retrotink. Now, I`m no expert, as my experience thus far is pretty limited, but going from the composite cables on my Genesis to this SCART cable - it`s such a vivid difference. It helps a lot that I had been playing a lot of Lightening Force in anticipation of getting the new cable to see the difference.

I do notice, however, when the screen is mostly black, I can see ``streaks`` instead of a uniform black screen. I`m not sure what that is an indicator of (see prior: limited experience) but the improvement in overall look, and a slightly smudgy screen that otherwise doesn`t even have any content on it doesn`t count against it in my mind at all. Maybe on day if I discover a better cable, that would be my new 5 star and this would become a 4, but dagnabbit, I love this cable, and getting to use the stereo input is just icing on the already gorgeous cake.

    Glorious picture quality!

Posted by Doug on Jun 27th 2024

The cable is built very well. I`ve got it connected to a 6-port SCART switch that runs to my RGB modded Sony Trinitron. The picture quality is fantastic with sharp crispy pixels that beat the pants off any replicator`s scanlines. The only downfall is price. Don`t get me wrong, I think this is a fair price. But now that I`m a convert to the superior quality of this cable, I have to buy one for each of my RGB capable consoles and that adds up so fast!
