RetroTink 2X Pro - Component, S-video, Composite, to Digital Video Output

The RetroTINK-2X Pro is an affordable video processor to add high-quality analog video inputs to modern HDMI displays by converting 240p/480i/288p/576i NTSC/PAL sources to 480p/576p.

It is specifically optimized to accurately handle 240p/288p inputs by offering ultra-low latency line doubling for bypassing a display’s built-in SDTV scaler/deinterlacer which often adds significant lag and visual artifacts.

The 2X-Pro takes everything from the original device and improves upon it. The Pro model comes with an injection molded enclosure, a full-size HDMI port, and better build quality. Under the hood, a high quality 4-layer PCB is used, as well as multiple independently regulated and filtered power supplies.

The 2X-Pro adds scanline generation, in addition to the smoothing, as optional filter modes. Different color-encoding formats (PAL-60, NTSC-443, SECAM) are now automatically detected. New firmware can be flashed via the USB port using a PC-based program without the need for special tools.

All this adds up to make the RetroTink Pro the simplest, plug-and-play solution for connecting retro-consoles to modern TVs.

Everything that was great about the original is back plus new improvements and features:

  • Professional injection molded enclosure
  • Inputs: Component, S-video, Composite (shared with the green jack)
  • Output: HDMI
  • Automatic format detection: NTSC, PAL, PAL-60, PAL-M*, NTSC-443* and SECAM*
  • SCANLINE mode
  • Adjustable comb filtering for Retro (notch) and Video (2-D comb)
  • USB firmware upgrade capability - no special tools needed

*PAL-M, NTSC-443 and SECAM auto-detection and support have been implemented in the firmware but only limited testing has been done due to the inavalibility of these devices in the US.

Powered by optional Micro USB cable (suggested to use a USB port on your TV if available)

Optional 20 watt USB Power Brick includes dual ports (USB and USB-C) and can be used on multiple devices at once.

Amazing power in a little box

Easily the best and most reliable video upscaler on the market, easy to use and upgrade.
The only minor issue is it has some compatibility issues with Elgato recording/streaming hardware, but can easily be worked around.

This helps so much in getting crisp images out of retro consoles like the n64 and snes, especially with the svideo port which isnt even avaliable on any tvs newer than like 2007

    Retrotink 2XPro

as a standalone device for your hd tvs this is a great item. I noticed a few issues with capturing it through an Elgato like dropped signals especially with PAL systems, but it definitly gets the job done once you mess around with it. I've tried other solutions for capturing gameplay and this one is easily one of the best.

    Pretty Good

I ordered this to try as an alternative to the MKII GCHD and its sister version for the N64. It works very well with my N64 and my Saturn machines. The picture can be either 4:3 or 16:9 widescreen on my HDTV. I tried the new component cables offered by retro-bit for the gamecube, running it through the retrotink to the TV, but my TV could not interpret the signal. I still have yet to try it on a newer HDTV, as my living room unit is from 2011. I would say the toggle switches are a little too small and require a paperclip or something small to switch them back and forth. Not a whole lot of features other than scan lines. However, it was plug and play, and requires a power source. I would recommend purchasing this over one of the pound or the levelhike converters as the picture quality was not too dark or too light and definitely looked a bit better than through just the standard composite cables.

    Works great with N64

I had been running my N64 using the original composite cables hooked up to a Yamaha RX-A880 to upconvert to a LG C9 4K OLED. The quality was pretty poor to say the least. I took a chance on the Retrotink 2X, purchasing it along with the S-video cable to see if it would make a noticeable improvement. Short answer - it has. The N64 looks much more pleasant with a cleaner and sharper image. I like to use it with the softening filter enabled. It does make some on-screen text look a little off but makes everything else look much better. The scanline feature is neat but I will likely not use it - it makes the screen look too dark and adjusting my TV settings to try to compensate just washes out the colors. I am still running the HDMI from the Retrotink through the Yamaha receiver for now - I'll have to try direct to the TV and see if there is any difference but I'm very happy with the improvement in image quality. No perceptible lag either.

Great product! Works great with all my retro consoles, and HD retrovision cables. Stoneage Gamer is the only place I could find in stock. Had to replace one that was stolen. SA gamer shipped out fast. Really happy.

    Retrotink 2x pro is amazing!!

i love this piece of equipment, the fact you can use it on HD based televisions helps a whole lot, i also use it for streaming retro content online, the only downfall to this is the fact that the composite signal cannot be cleaned, so do not expect anything major out of that part, it does double the lines so its less deinterlaced, it looks so much smoother when you use the line doubler. for the price its worth it is a must have, the 5x is also great from the reviews ive seen, but this does exactly what i need it to do. everybody should have one of these for their modern tv, oh did i mention it helps out alot with input lag? yes, it helps out a whole lot unlike certain tv's that have input enabled but still deal with latency issues. you want that cleaner/sharper image, get this product, you wont regret it.
