Description

This is Rexus’s take on the DreamPSU. This 12v power supply works with all versions (PAL, NTSC-US, NTSC-J).

A 12v AC/DC adapter with 5.5×2.1mm barrel size positive center tip is required and available as an option.

Compatible with all ODEs (Optical disc emulators)

No soldering required

The PSU includes a couple of extra sockets (5v and 12v) for extra mods (connectors are JST VH).

Ripple+noise on the 3.3v rail is 28mV and on the 5V rail is 19mV under max load (measured with a 20Mhz BW limit).

 

Please Note:   The optional high quality MeanWell power adapter is highly recommended by the manufacturer, who warns against using cheap power adapters with these units.  If you want to save money and use the same MeanWell adapter on all your rePSU units (ReDream, ReSaturn, RePSX, and ReN64), they are all compatible with the same power adapter.

    Nice replacements power supply

    After installing a gdemu in my Dreamcast I read plenty of reviews with people mentioning the OEM power supply overheating. Decided to swap to another supply to be on the safe side. This fit the bill perfectly and was easy to install. No complaints after install.

    Terrible interference

    I bought the power supply ReDream PSU combo. It causes atrocious interference in the video signal, especially noticeable in VGA. Had to put the original power supply back.

    I learned too late that there are Twitter threads talking about how bad this product is for filtering out interference thanks to its extremely basic design.

    Great upgrade

    I was having issues with video noise with my original PSU. I replaced it with the V1 redream PSU a few years ago and it was great, modded a new dreamcast just recently with MODE and this and it looks and sounds almost perfect. Pick up Stone Age gamers power brick as well, this is such a great upgrade that`s really easy to install.

    Solid PSU replacement

    Purchased this to replace my Dreamcast`s original power supply, as the console was crashing when outputting 480p (apparently this has to do with aging caps in the power supply).

    Sure enough, after replacing it with this new PSU the console ran great.

    One thing to keep in mind however: while you can use any power adapter that supplies 12v and >=3A with this PSU, using a cheap no-name adapter will likely result in noisy video output; the generic power brick adapter I got off of Amazon resulted in a noisy signal with my Dreamcast, but a wall wart taken from a HDD dock resulted in a clean video signal. Bottom line, don`t cheap out when selecting a power adapter for this PSU!
