This is the NGPC Style version of the NeoPocket Game Drive for the Neo-Geo Pocket Color. It comes assembled in a black shell with NGPC Style label.

The RetroHQ NeoPocket GameDrive cartridge contains 15MB of on-board FLASH memory available to install your games, and a memory card slot to access your game library directly from the console, wherever you are.

To play games on the NeoGeo Pocket console, they must first be installed onto the FLASH memory of the cartridge via the memory card. Up to 15MB of games can be installed at once from the built-in management software, and once a game has been installed it can be run instantly from the game selection menu. Installed games can be saved back to the memory card (to save progress) and deleted to free up space for more games to be installed.

Basic Edition vs. Deluxe Edition

The Basic Edition comes with just the NeoPocket Game Drive cartridge and printed manual. Whereas the Deluxe Edition includes the cartridge, a case**, printed manual, a NeoPocket Game Drive sticker, Stone Age Gamer sticker, and is covered by a 2-year Warranty..

E) CLONE / MODIFIED CONSOLES – Flash carts / ODEs were developed and intended to be used on un-modified original hardware using original hardware accessories. Stone Age Gamer does not guarantee flash cart / ODE operation on clone consoles or modified consoles. Flash carts / ODEs may operate on some clone consoles or modified consoles. However, due to power consumption changes, random hardware changes and/or firmware updates of those consoles we cannot offer a guarantee of flash cart compatibility. Any returns due to incompatibility with clone consoles or modified consoles will result in no refund of any shipping costs and a 10% restocking fee if no defect is found during testing.

    Works - Speaker Whine In Menu

    The NeoPocket GameDrive seems to do what it`s supposed to, however I noticed that it makes a notable whine when in the menu. When you boot up a game and are playing it, things are totally fine. I only have one NeoGeo Pocket Color, so I can`t rule out my unit, but if that whine wasn`t present in the menu I`d give it 5 stars. I have not noted any compatibility issues with the games I tested.

    Compatible avec NeoGeo Pocket et Pocket Color. Produit de très bonne qualitée et facile d’utilisation. J’ai mis le full set sur micro SD.

    Here`s the thing with this... You have to get it because it has the memory card access. There`s not a lot of choices when it comes to flash-carts for the NGP and we all understand this. It`s not the full access type with it`s flash memory but the alternative would be something else that has to plug into a PC to load up games. That`s just not practical. Spend a little more money and get this. Sure the loading and flash is annoying but you can load 5 -6 good games and have them ready to go. The NGP library is not huge and there`s only a handful of really great games. This will have those games ready and when you get curious you can switch out roms easily enough without anything else needed. The overall quality is pretty good too. I rated it 4/5 only because of the flash and loading. That`s just me being critical because I`m spoiled by stuff by terraonion and everdrive.

    If you love the neo Geo pocket this is absolutely everything you need. Considering that most of the games are ridiculously priced, this is a no-brainer. Like quite literally all you need is a 2 GB SD card to have every game including the fan translated ones. Get it.

    Best AVAILABLE Solution, Not the BEST Solution. Not Ideal

    It does the job, albeit a slowly (as in load times from menu -> game). The 3D printed shell leaves much to be desired. The interface IS easy to understand and navigate.
    The function though, is very odd. The game system can only play games from the carts internal flash memory, and not the SD card.

    So you have to load the SD Card with your games, then you start the console up with the SD and the Cart inserted, then use the interface on the console to move files from the SD to the internal memory, but you only have 15MB to work with, which means you can not have all the library ready, you have to delete and re transfer as needed. At least you can xfer the save data BACK to the SD to keep progress. This also means the cart is constantly writing to the internal memory too.
    I assume the internal memory is non-replaceable, so the cart has a shorter shelf life than an Everdrive, where everything is done via the SD card (even Firmware), which is easily replaceable. Once the internal memory gets a stuck bit, or corrupts, or reaches max writes (which will happen even faster since is writing save data on the internal memory), that's it for the entire cart. Not ideal, and even less ideal from a game preservation standpoint.

    Easy set up. Works perfectly. I wish the cart was made from a higher quality plastic, but this does not affect its operation. Best option currently on the market.

    Works great. No complaints. Just upgraded my NGPC with an IPS screen. It's been awesome to replay my old favs as well as discover other games I never played.

    Almost perfect flash card for the NGPC

    This card has never had an issue, it was compatible with all SD cards I tried with it and works in my Neo Geo pocket without a problem. My only criticism is that there is not a lot of space available in the flash rom and in my experience i am limited to about six games in the flash storage. That means that if i want to play a new game i have to delete one of those games and reinstall the new game to flash. The copy to flash takes about 2 to 5 minutes depending. Which is not the end of the world, but not as convenient as other cards I have used. Still, when you do get your cart flashed it works great and I would recommend it if you need a card for your NGPC.
