MemCard PRO for PlayStation

No more piles of tiny memory cards for the PlayStation 1 with a mere 15 blocks on each card.

Did you know that there are games that use a whole standard Memory Card for just 1 save?

The MemCard PRO was designed and assembled by 8BitMods, and it's a brand new offering for the PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 (for PlayStation 1 games only) that solves the problem of storing your game's saves forever.

In this latest hardware revision (HW3) there is no longer the need for a PS2 modification for the MemCard PRO to function. Simply plug in, load your favourite PS1 game and enjoy!

High Tech

Using the latest components, the MemCard PRO offers an almost infinite amount of blocks for your PlayStation 1, from a single slot! An ESP32 module provides an incredible amount of power, with a dual-core processor running at 240MHz.

Endless Storage

MemCard PRO can store "virtual memory cards" on a standard microSD card of any size. Everything from 1GB to 1TB works!
Each gigabyte of storage on your microSD card equals to a whopping 8192 memory cards! Yes you've read that right! A 1GB microSD can store 122,880 blocks of PlayStation 1 game saves!

But it doesn't stop there! This little device is packed with features!

A Memory Card with WiFi!?

MemCard PRO can also connect to your WiFi network, to provide extra cool features! At this moment you can browse, mount, delete, edit or rename the Virtual Memory Cards on your microSD card, through an intuitive Web User Interface. It can also update its firmware over the internet, or through the microSD card slot.

.. and an FTP Server!
Why get up from the leisure of your couch to move files around on the SD card, when you can simply do it over an FTP client? The MemCard PRO can run its own local FTP server which gives you instant access to the whole filesystem of your sd card, without lifting a finger!

.. and an OLED Display!?

Did we mention there is a super-bright OLED display on MemCard PRO? The display can show you the mounted memory card, along with more information like read and write access indicators. It can also show the card's name, which you can set through the WebUI.

Last but not Least...

If you have a modern PlayStation 1 Optical Disc Emulator, it's about to get even more exciting.

MemCard PRO can seamlessly communicate with an ODE and automatically mount the memory card specifically for that game! If it's the first time you're running the game, it will automatically create 8 virtual memory cards for that specific game, and even show the game's name on the display!

But even if you don't, and you prefer original discs instead, you can still take advantage of the MemCard PRO GameID system! Simply boot your games via UniROM (FreePSXBoot or a UniROM flash cartridge).

We really plan to add more features to MemCard PRO, and everything will be addeed for free, through a firmware update.

  • OLED display that shows the mounted memory card, read/write access indicators and network information
  • Supports any microSD card, from 1GB to 1TB. Every GB of storage has enough space for approximately 8000 cards
  • WiFi connectivity and remote features through a WebUI
  • Switch the active channel through a game pad combination or with the card's physical buttons
  • Easy wireless network setup from a wireless device's web browser, by connecting to its access point
  • Supports ODE commands for automatic loading, game info and remote control
  • High quality manufacturing with an injection molded shell and hard gold plated fingers
  • Load the stored memory cards remotely through the WebUI and manage individual blocks
  • Easily access and manage the physical files on your MemCard PRO microSD card over an FTP client

Planned Features:*

  • Local and Cloud backup functionality through file rotation
  • Share saves with your friends
  • Download saves and memory cards directly to your MemCard PRO from a URL
  • ... more surprises!

Due to the limited power supply capabilities of the PlayStation 3 Memory Card adapter, it is unfortunately not supported.

*Planned are based on the capabilities of the MemCard PRO hardware, and may not be implemented."

    MemCard Pro

Literally the best accessory to own for the Playstation. No more lost data, no more fumbling with memory cards, no more weird multi-memory cards that fail randomly, and if you have an xStation it even names the VMCs after the game they contain

Amazing product. So happy with my purchase. This is a must buy for any PS1 owner with a huge library. StoneAgeGamer was very quick to notify me when the item was back in stock. They were fast to ship and the memery card arrived in great condition because the quality of their packaging was superb. A++ and 5 gold stars

    Great convenience, but buggy.

Posted by Cory on Feb 12th 2023

This is a great idea, and I`m glad I bought it, but the experience has not been smooth.

The new hardware revision that they are shipping out is buggy. I got my device on Dec 19th and it basically arrived non-functional with the amount of bugs and non-working features it had. It took them over a month to release new firmware to fix most of it.

The FTP is a pointless gimmick, too. I`ve only gotten a file to transfer successfully once, and in the time it takes to set it all up you could have just used an SD card reader.

On top of all that, one of the buttons on the front is really mushy feeling and if you try to cycle through memory cards too quickly it lags and doesn`t respond to your button-press.

I finally don`t have to worry about save space any more thanks to this memory card. Works on my PS2 Phat wonderfully. :)

Genuinely the best memory solution for any retro system

Posted by Chad Farber on Jan 18th 2023

I have a PS1 set up with Xstation and got this memory card just to save on buying a bunch of separate cards and WOW is this thing fantastic. It set up separate memory cards for individual games, has a nice little OLED screen, incredible WiFi set up, and it`s just a fantastic all around. For the price, if you have a PS1, you absolutely should snag one of these.

    Best Memory Card!

Posted by Marcus Modugno on Jan 16th 2023

Pretty much the best memory card ever! Never will need another, now I just wish we had one for every console as this has spoiled me and my PS1. Gamecube version is going to be killer and one can hope for a PS2 version.

The last PS1 memory card you`ll ever need.

Posted by Ian on Jan 15th 2023

An amazing tool that, with a little creativity, can lead to some very interesting places. If nothing else you`ll never need another PS1 memory card ever again.

Some important things to note if you plan on purchasing this item that should save you some headaches:

    1. Make sure you have a wifi enabled device such as a computer or smart phone.
If you`re reading this you probably already have that. You`ll need this to access most of your memcard`s other functions. FTP is an option as well with more recent firmware.

    2. Familiarize yourself with ``Memcard Rex.``
Its a free program that lets you edit, create and extract saves from ps1 memory card files. Its easy to use, just remember to highlight an empty slot and then select ``import save`` to add an individual save to a memory card file. If you`ve used ps1 emulators it likely uses the same files memcard pro uses and they function in the same way. All can be edited with Memcard Rex.

    3. Don`t forget you can copy saves from original PS1 memory cards to the memcard pro using the PS1 memory card manager just like a normal memory card.

    4. Finally, while this device is very reliable, make sure to make back-ups of your saves just in case. In my tests I did end up corrupting 1 virtual memory card. It was easy enough for me to fix but it can happen so always keep a back-up just in case!
