The MemCard PRO was designed and assembled by 8BitMods, and it's a brand new offering for the PlayStation 1 that solves the problem of storing your game's saves forever.

High Tech

Using the latest components, the MemCard PRO offers an almost infinite amount of blocks for your PlayStation 1, from a single slot! An ESP32 module provides an incredible amount of power, with a dual-core processor running at 240MHz.

Endless Storage

MemCard PRO can store "virtual memory cards" on a standard microSD card of any size. Everything from 1GB to 1TB works!
Each gigabyte of storage on your microSD card equals to a whopping 8192 memory cards! Yes you've read that right! A 1GB microSD can store 122,880 blocks of PlayStation 1 game saves!

But it doesn't stop there! This little device is packed with features!

A Memory Card with WiFi!?

MemCard PRO can also connect to your WiFi network, to provide extra cool features! At this moment you can browse and control the Memory Cards on your microSD card, through an intuitive Web User Interface. It can also update its firmware over the internet, or through the microSD card slot.

.. and an FTP Server!

Why get up from the leisure of your couch to move files around on the SD card, when you can simply do it over an FTP client? The MemCard PRO can run its own local FTP server which gives you instant access to the whole filesystem of your sd card, without lifting a finger!

.. and an OLED Display!?

Did we mention there is a super-bright OLED display on MemCard PRO? The display can show you the mounted memory card, along with more information like read and write access indicators. It can also show the card's name, which you can set through the WebUI.

Last but not Least...

If you have a modern PlayStation 1 Optical Disc Emulator, it's about to get even more exciting.

MemCard PRO can seamlessly communicate with an ODE and automatically mount the memory card specifically for that game! If it's the first time you're running the game, it will automatically create 8 virtual memory cards for that specific game, and even show the game's name on the display!

We really plan to add more features to MemCard PRO, and everything will be addeed for free, through a firmware update.

A powerhouse product with niche features

I ordered the blue version of this memory card one month ago (#179663) and have been testing it out quite a bit. There are a lot of niche features this memory card offers that if you can take advantage of them are wonderful. If you can't however (or see no value in them) then this makes the memory card a harder choice to invest in at the price.

First and foremost, the utility this offers with ODE's is something that unfortunately I, like most people I imagine, do not have access to. (One day!) So right away the ability to auto-detect and generate memory cards for games run through an ODE is lost. This would be awesome if it could do the same for actual disk based games but I get the limitation.

This then goes to the next big feature - the wifi management. This was neat to tinker with, but for me personally I found it more work than just popping out the SD card and putting it into my computer to make manual tweaks and adjustments. This is something I see the last tech savvy not even wanting to bother with at all.

A big shinning stand out feature though that I feel will get a lot more universal use is the ease of copying the virtual memory cards to your computer by just popping it into your computer, like mentioned above. The flexibility of begin able to play a game on original hardware, copy the save to my PC, playing it on an replicator with various visual tweaks, then bringing over the save data to continue on the OG hardware is fantastic.

However, let's say you're a purist, or perhaps even just a casual. You want a new memory card for your Playstation and that's it. Is the price tag worth it? That's harder to say. If you want the piece of mind of buying something new, knowing it will last for decades, then you will still easily find value in this. If you don't care and just want something that works for the few times a year you play your Playstation, then perhaps buying a cheap bulk set of old memory cards is what will best suit your needs.

During my month of testing I ran into one hiccup with the card - while playing on original hardware (Model: 5501) during a save operation on Parasite Eve my memory card corrupted and had to be re-formated, even though I had been using it for over a week at this point without issue. I haven't had the issue since that point however so luckily it may have just been an odd one-off, but worth mentioning.

Over all, I would say this card is a must have if you are any kind of avid or regular Playstation user. Even if you can't make use of every feature, it's worth the price for a long lasting, new memory card.

Not only is the memcard pro developed by 8bitmods, creators of the AMAZING Xstation, it's the solution we didn't know we needed until they'd designed it. It takes away the need for a DexDrive/Sony Memory Card/ that unruly feeling in your bones when you buy a cheap 3rd party memory card and makes magic! We're talking wireless save backups, Xstation integration so you have a memory card (or more, there's an option for more!) per game, page changing (like the old 3rd party memory cards) but without the fear of losing your saves! No, I'm serious. A virtual memory card named AFTER the game it was generated for. There isn't anything else on the market like the Memcard Pro. (works with MODE, too!!) Do yourself a favor and order this badboy up... you've already wasted valuable time reading this review!

This thing is a beast extremely well built with tons of feature. FPGA on-board make it evolve with each update. I can't imagine all the possibility in a near future

Last Memory Card You'll Buy

I am using this paired with an XStation, so it automatically switches the Virtual Memory Card to that specific game's save files. When I read it can make 8000 VMCs per GB of SD Card, it sounded like it would be a nightmare to keep track of. With the automatic switching, I don't have to worry. The WebUI is simple and easy to use, and from there you can manage the VMCs, and I think you can hotswap. It's easy to setup.
So I used a 16 GB SD card, which means I have 128,000 memory cards. And I can back it up to my computer. Never have to worry about the stack of memory cards and them dying on me ever again.

Very easy to set up and use! I was happy to be able to replace my dying Mega Memory Card with something more modern and be able to preserve my childhood saves. I don't have much need for the WiFi option and it runs a bit hot but I'm happy with my purchase and the seemingly infinite amount of storage space I have now!

This device is pretty neat! You won't ever need another PSX Memory Card! I sure hope they make these for the Dreamcast, GameCube and PS2 as well!

This replaced a stack of old memory cards I have for my PlayStation. Love the integration with xstation and the ability to quickly and easily back up saves. I never thought I needed something like this, but I can't imagine not having it now! Very well built product with excellent support.
