Features

  • microSD supported (tested up to 64GB; no exFAT support so SDXC cards must be reformatted using FAT32).
  • Fast ROM loading (~9MB/s).
  • Fast menu navigation.
  • Directories are sorted automatically, no need for FAT sorting tools.
  • High resolution menu (512×224) for adequate display of long file names.
  • Real Time Clock.
  • Supports ROM size up to 128MBit (96Mbit actually implemented).
  • Automatic near-time SRAM saving to SD Card (while the game runs). Some limitations apply:
    • near-time saving is switched to periodic saving when a game is found to use the SRAM as work RAM.
    • Automatic saving is disabled when MSU1 is used. SRAM is saved on reset.
    • Enhancement chip support (see below for implementation status).
  • SuperCIC key (SNES CIC clone):
    • enables operation on unmodified consoles of all regions.
    • supports software 50/60Hz switching on SuperCIC enhanced consoles only (to be performed by FXPAK firmware, not yet implemented there).
    • Auto region patching: eliminates “This Game Pak is not designed…” messages regardless of 50/60Hz setting.

    Great product!

Posted by Lesley on Sep 22nd 2024

I really like the quality and colour of this product. I think the price is reasonable as well. It will play all of your backups, except only like 3 I believe, Far East of Eden being one. But it should be more than enough for any collection. Its also pretty simple to get the files you need and get it up and running. It requires a bit of know how, but likely if you are buying this product you shouldn`t have too many problems setting it up. Its a great way to save your games, and not worry about save files as they are stored on the SD card rather than relying on a save battery. You can even dump the save from your cart and put in on the pro. This is a great place to buy it as well, shipping is fast, and you really can`t beat a transparent shell as it shows the lights on the board.

Great quality cartridge all around. UI feels smooth and nice to use. The glacial color just looks rad. Worth the purchase to be able to play SNES/SFC without limits.

Works great on the super nt or real hardware. Handy for putting super mario world kaizo levels on along with other rom hacks

I really like how the menu can be changed and how well this works. I've encountered no bugs or glitches and all the games I want to play work flawlessly. Can't suggest it enough!

    Awesome Hardware-with a little work

Posted by Tristen on Sep 13th 2021

I have an shvc-cpu-01 Snes. At first it had seemed to be an issue with this cart as i was getting graphical glitches whenever the system would load up. After some troubleshooting it turned out my old console did not have a cpu clock buffer, the clock was just running off transistors. After some deadbugging a proper buffer off the crystal the console started behaving itself and the cart worked like a dream!

Best SNES flash cart right now

Posted by Kevin Larsen on Aug 20th 2021

This works, though it seems there's an incompatibility with my clone hardware. The Super Retro Trio flickers with special chip games from flash cart, but the original carts work perfectly. If you're not using original hardware you might want to get the cheaper version to save money, but I'm still happy to buy the best possible SNES flash cart on the market right now.

Set up wasn't obvious but the internet bailed me out.

Posted by Matthew H. on Jul 25th 2021

I new to this type of hardware so set up wasn't obvious to me. I put the games on an SD card and it was asking for a menu file. I downloaded the menu color I liked and put it on my SD card (after creating a file directory to match the one it asked for). Finally I found an old Reddit post that helped me figure out the simple mistake I made. Download the firmware and put it on the SD. Then put your games on the root of the SD. Neat product and has worked great so far. I really hope it lasts.

    FX PAK Pro

Posted by Robert M on May 18th 2021

Absolutely the best flash cart for the SNES. Enhanced chip games, homebrew (Zelda randomizer!), and a good number of new 'enhanced audio' games (Link to the Past with CD quality audio is fantastic!).

If you're seriously considering a flash cart for your SNES, this is the only real choice. Most of the games people care about on SNES had special graphical chips, and this is the only one that does them all. So if you want to play Star Fox, Mega Man X3, and many others, this is your best bet.
