If you have been looking for a better solution for your storage device used with your TerraOnion MODE, this kit will allow you to get setup with an easy to access M.2 SSD drive!  This is a kit for mounting a SATA connection into the area of the console where the optical drive normally would be.  The kit includes all the hardware necessary to mount into your console, and an easy step-by-step guide in digital PDF format is linked on this listing.  Please note that while you can use a typical SATA 2.5" hard drive with this kit, you will not be able to shut the lid on the console if you do so, you would need to remove (just unplug) it from the adapter if you wanted to shut the lid after each use.  Instead, we recommend using the included SATA to M.2 SSD adapter along with an M.2 SSD type drive* which will allow you to close the lid with plenty of room to spare.  No longer will you need to worry about opening up your console each time you want to access your SATA device!  This kit also includes a SATA to USB 3 adapter.  Just unplug the SATA adapter from the SATA port (hold both sides and pull / wiggle it from side to side to remove it) and plug it directly into the included SATA to USB 3 adapter.  Then plug the USB port into your PC and you can transfer your files with ease.  The Default color choice for the 3D printed mount is black.  We also have a select few other color options available on this listing.  If you have a special request of a different color you do not see feel free to email us to check, we may be able to offer a color that fits your needs. This Kit does not  require the use of the Stone Age Gamer 3d printed MODE Mount, but it is recommended to use with it.

*M.2 SSD Drive is NOT Included (pictures for representation only) - You must use the SATA type and NOT NVME type of M.2 drive - (only the SATA style M.2 drives are supported with the MODE)

PLEASE NOTE: This Kit does not have a button for the multi-disc games on it.  If you do not want to have to remove the lid of the console to access the button for multi-disc games, we suggest purchasing the optional external button which can be installed to allow multi-disc game support without using the physical button on the MODE unit itself.  You instead will be able to press a button which is discretely mounted on the back of the console when you need to swtich discs.

    Amazing

This is a fantastic product and makes the MODE much better to use in my opinion. Non-NVME M.2 SSDs are very cheap now relatively speaking, and easy to move back and forth to my PC to try new homebrew releases etc.

Well worth it for Dreamcast Mode

This is an excellent add-on for anyone buying a Mode for their Dreamcast. Sata M.2 drives are plenty cheap for the storage you`ll likely need for a full Dreamcast library and having it easily accessible is very convenient if you need to add or change anything down the road. The kit comes with a Sata to USB adapter that you can attach to the included board, but I wouldn`t recommend using it for transferring files over to your drive as the speeds are extremely slow for this purpose, but it`s still a nice addition. Also remember you need a Sata M.2 drive, not an NVMe as they are not exactly the same.

    Probably not essential

I was able to get mine mostly with store credit. I was hoping it would neatly house a regular SATA SSD under the lid of my Dreamcast, but the drive's form factor is just a little too tall. For me, the SATA-m.2 adapter was just a bonus since I don't have an m.2 drive. One of the mounting screws did strip some plastic on install. No big deal. Can't say I'd spend $50+ on this, but this might be exactly what someone else needs for their setup and that might be worth it them.
