    Fantastic

Posted by Cory on Feb 12th 2023

I got this for sale for $99 on Krikzz`s site a few years ago and it`s just fantastic. If you already have a Sega CD like me, and you don`t need the features of the Mega Everdrive Pro, this is a perfect choice.

Some of the features don`t work if you have a 32X attached, like save states and the in-game menu, but it`s still a fantastic device.

It`s a little tight going in to the system, unlike real cartridges, but it`s the kind of device you rarely need to remove so it`s not a huge deal.

With it you have unlimited money and time

Posted by jmsboss on Dec 17th 2021

It saves you the money you spend buying each game and the time you spend finding them.
    We're 30 or 40 years old.
Have their own jobs and families.
With it, we can play any game we want after a day's work.
We can spend the rest of our lives playing every single game we have on our SD card.

In a post-Sega Channel world, we need the Mega Everdrive X7 more than ever.

Posted by Brian Duff on Aug 28th 2021

The Mega Everdrive X7 is the best way to enjoy the classic Sega Genesis console. I bought mine because as great as emulation on the PC is, I wanted to be able to play the games on my TV like I did years ago. The Mega Everdrive X7 was really easy to setup on its own, but I ordered my dad the deluxe edition that has easy to follow step by step instructions. It was easy to get an SD card and load my ***perfectly legal backups of cartridges that I own*** to the card. I can play all those games with the Mega Everdrive. A+ 10/10 would definitely recommend for other Sega Genesis fans/enthusiasts.

    Excellent Genesis + SMS solution

Posted by Lee Hathcock on Jun 5th 2021

I've owned a Mega EverDrive V2/X7 for quite some time, and if you don't need Sega CD support, it's an excellent choice for running the full Genesis library and most SMS games.

First, the Genesis functionality is very good. The entire library, to my knowledge, runs fine. You may run into some quirks with EEPROM games (mostly sports). Some of them have SRAM patches, although the latest firmware works fine with most EEPROM games. Game loading is incredibly swift, feeling nearly instantaneous for smaller games and only a few seconds for the largest ROMs.
The X7 also brings support for Pier Solar and its custom mapper, and also simulates the SVP chip, used in Virtua Racing.

As for Sega Master System support, the X7 implements the FM audio core add-on released in Japan. If you ever wanted to hear what some games sounded like in Japan with the add-on, now you can! Most SMS games work fine on Genesis, but a few use an unsupported video mode. This isn't the fault of the X7, but the Genesis hardware.

If you own a 32X, you can also use the X7 to load 32X games as well. You can't use the in-game reset feature if the 32X is attached, so be aware of that.

Speaking of the in-game reset, you can use a button combination to call up a menu in-game to go back to the loading menu or save/load states. Pretty sweet! Don't expect save states to work perfectly (or at all) with all games, but for those it does work well with, it's incredibly useful. Do note that save states only work with the Genesis, not 32X or SMS.

If you're still old-school and running an actual Sega CD (and perhaps even still burning CDs for it!) and a 32X, the X7 will give you all you need to enjoy virtually all of Sega's 8/16-bit output. Definitely a recommended purchase for Sega fans!

    A Mega Upgrade

Posted by Matt on May 24th 2021

This product allowed me to get the absolute most out of my Model 1 Genesis and remove the hassle of swapping cartridges. Compatibility is great with even Virtua Racing running well and the only issues being with a few PAL format Master System titles.

Very solid construction and ease of use all around. Would definitely recommend for the Genesis fan who wants the best the base console can offer without the add-ons.

A great value flashcart for genesis gamers

Posted by Jay on May 10th 2021

If you never intend to run megaCD games (or if you already have the cd unit). this is the cart for you.
Huge compatibility, savestates etc. the feature list should give you a ton of quality of life improvements for your genesis..
I run this with a wireless controller and it has brought my genesis into the 21st century. I love it.
