    Perfect for just playing games

Posted by Conor T on Dec 11th 2024

This mid tier genesis everdrive is the sweet spot for just loading up and playing almost the entire library. So long as you don`t need save states or other bells and whistles, this cart lets you play and save without issue.

    I love this cart!

Ever drives are amazing, I’ve heard nothing but good about them. Pulled the plug and bought my Genesis X5 - love it! Amazing that I can have my full library on one cart.

I LOVE the Everdrive series. This is the second one I've bought and I can use this one for Sega CD ROM backup which is awesome.

    Mega Ever Drive X5

I bought this to run homebrew games/software on original Hardware and also to help me fix old consoles. I might do some game development so I though it might be useful to own. The system works well. It is still to me fairly expensive (I live in Asia). The build quality is excellent though.

    Mega EverDrive X5

Works very well. Can save games on the SD card! It even works with my 16-bit pocket! I could play Japanese and American games on it. No problems at all.

    Solid

Does everything it needs to do. Not the fanciest Everdrive available for the Mega Drive, but if all you want is to get your old console back up and playing some games then accept no substitute.
The main reason (at least for me) for getting one of these over the X3 would be the ability to save without resetting the console. You won't be getting advanced features like save states, but if you are old enough to have owned a Mega Drive back in the day then you shouldn't need them anyway.

    Perfect Middle-Ground

This thing just works. If you don't need savestates or the ability to play Sega-CD games right off of the cart then I believe this is the perfect companion for anyone with a Sega Genesis. It's easy to use, super reliable, and supports tons of great features. Things like doubling as a Sega-CD save cart, and allowing you to play your master system games without an adapter make it worth it without even considering the ability to play all of your Genesis games without swapping carts. This thing is a must-have for every Genesis owner in my opinion, especially if you own a Sega-CD and don't own one of the now expensive save carts to go with it.

    Genesis + SMS

Posted by PJR on May 14th 2021

Was looking for a solution to play SMS games on my genesis without an adapter for my cartridges. This thing is amazing. The interface is a little dull (at least the Everdrive 64 allows backgrounds), but it functions extremely well. Pause button is a bonus.

    Mega Everdrive X5 Review

Posted by Phil "admiralpete" Starchok on Oct 6th 2020

I purchased the Mega Everdrive X5 to play hacked games on real hardware. I have also tried vanilla ROMs from No-Intro with this cart. Vanilla ROMs are completely functional, and the main hack I play (Mega Man: The Wily Wars by MotZilla) works perfectly too. This version of the Mega Everdrive DOES NOT play Sega CD Games OOB, and I would not risk bricking my cart to attempt to go beyond what the official firmware does.
