Jaguar GameDrive

Ever dream of having your whole library of Atari Jaguar games in a single cartridge? The Jaguar GameDrive for the Jaguar allows you to load your personally backed-up games from an microSD card, put the microSD card into the Jaguar GameDrive, put the Jaguar GameDrive into a Jaguar system and have your list of games at your finger tips. Please read the FLASH CART DISCLAIMER below before purchasing.

The Jaguar GameDrive has full support for all games and sizes of EEPROM (used to save game progress). The EEPROM contents are saved directly to the memory card along with your game, so everything is stored in one place.

You will need to provide a memory card (FAT or FAT32 formatted) and your own file images (JAG, J64, file, BIN, ABS) to play.

Basic Edition vs. Deluxe Edition

The Basic Edition comes with just the Jaguar Game Drive cartridge with label and printed manual. Whereas the Deluxe Edition includes the cartridge, a case, printed manual, a Jaguar GameDrive sticker, Stone Age Gamer sticker, and is covered by a 2-year Warranty.

Features

  • Injection molded shell
  • All retail Jaguar cartridge and homebrew games working
  • Many Jaguar CD games (no CD attachment required) working [still in beta]

Hardware Compatibility

  • Atari Jaguar without Jaguar CD installed
  • EEPROM support for 128, 512 and 2048 byte EEPROMs
  • FAT16/32 formatted MMC compatible micro memory card
  • JagLink currently not supported

Fantastic, Must have, for The Jag

    Posted by Jagwire64 on Jun 17th 2021

Jaguar Game Drive is well built and easy to use. The cart games run flawlessly. Have run some CD games as well. Best money I have spent on the Jaguar in a long time.

Stone Age Gamer shipped fast and the only place to have stock that I have found. Really happy with the unit.

    Atari Jaguar GameDrive is marvelous

Posted by Weaver Ng on Jun 2nd 2021

The Atari Jaguar GameDrive is constructed with a high quality case shell to withstand long term usage. Upon usage, the GameDrive presents the user with the option to upgrade the firmware. Once you update the firmware, the GameDirve is compatible with most CD games as well as regular cartridges. I found out that 16 GB micro SD cards are the most compatible memory card that work with this device. Any SD card larger than 16 GB seems to have problems (freeze in game) when I tested the CD games. Many homebrew games are also loadable and playable with the GameDrive. This is a bonus since the homebrew scene has many games to demo and preview. Credit goes to SaintT for creating a marvelous product for Jaguar owners.

    Awesome product. Worth the wait...

Posted by Dave Novotny on May 31st 2021

I bought the Deluxe Edition with SD card and it was plug and play. It already had the three bonus games installed and ready to play. I installed all my Rom's and artwork files in about and hour. It only took that long to make sure all my file names matched but it worked perfectly. I did go and install the new firmware update as I plan to try the cd game support soon. The only thing it could use is a way to exit out of a game without a reboot but that's not a big deal. I truly could not be happier with this product. It is worth the wait...

Great for carts, CD still hit and miss

    Posted by skeekun99 on May 28th 2021

Just got my GD this week. It didn't like my Windows formatted FAT32 Samsung Evo Plus 32GB card but after formatting using the official SD Assoc SD formatter tool, the card read fine. DL the initial firmware went fine. Loaded some cart files and tested a few (AVP, Atari Karts, etc) and all worked great. The downloadable box art tool works great for creating the partner MRQ file that will display box art, screen shot along with a few lines of text. Build quality of the cart is great. They mention in the description about the quality of 3D printed cases, but while not an OEM shell, it still looks slick with a nice glossy vinyl looking decal. The only trouble so far is with CD support, but that is still in very early development and will improve with time. Games like Space Ace and Dragon's Lair looped or crashed, some other don't boot at all, while others like Blue Lightning loaded and played fine. On occasion I do need to load a new game twice. I am not sure if it is hanging up creating a data file (I see one is created after playing the game the first time), maybe a saved states file or something, but rebooting and trying again has always worked so far. I am very pleased with the cart and glad I don't have to keep breaking out my ever appreciating retail carts when I want to play, wearing pins or risking other damage. The biggest wishlist item is a way to soft reboot the machine using a key combo to quickly return to the menu but that really is it. It is a great cart.

    This what your Jaguar needs!

Posted by Mike B. on May 21st 2021

What can I say? It has played every cartridge based game I've thrown at. CD based games work pretty well if you're the current firmware. To be honest the FMV does not look that great but no fault of the Gamedrive. Do not cheap out on SD cards! I recommend using a Sandisk Ultra for best results. The only two cons I have is the 3D printed case. In 20 years who knows if the case will fall apart. The other, it's a bit pricy. Still a drop in the bucket compared to most Jaguar games being notoriously EXPENSIVE! Overall If you have a Jaguar BUY this flash cart. You'll be glad you did.

    Everything about this is awesome.

Posted by Bryan Fischer on Apr 19th 2021

I started following the development of the Jaguar Game Drive a year ago and after finding out that Stone Age Gamer would have it I reached out with questions. What I received were dozens of incredibly helpful responses in a timely fashion and made me absolutely certain that ordering the Game Drive through SAG was the right move. I received my order incredibly fast and was blown away by the quality not only of the cartridge, but the case and the additional things that game with it. The case holds the cartridge snuggly and the label on the cartridge looks very spiffy in and out of the Jaguar. The Game Drive works like a dream and is very easy to put games onto. I can't stop playing with this thing! Seriously, the customer service was the cherry on top of a great product.

    No-Frills Success!

Posted by Galgomite on Apr 19th 2021

I waited a long time for the Jag Gamedrive and am happy to say it's worth the wait!
    Pros:
-The most important stuff is here and everything works!
-The Stoneage Gamer label looks great, easily my favorite variant.
-Boots more reliably than retail games!
    -CD support with firmware update.
-Every game I have tried runs.
    -Fast load times.
-The menu is easy to use.
-The included abandonware games are a nice touch.
    Cons:
-The 3D-printed cart shell looks fine but is not pleasant to the touch.
-CD games require a CLI conversion tool that didn't work with the files I had. (Does work though, per other users.)
-I have to choose “headerless ROM” when loading or my games won't run.
In all I am very happy with the GameDrive. It looks like there will never be a need for a different version, this one does it all and even fixes common boot problems. Highly recommended!

The cart to rule them all

Posted by Mastamuzz on Apr 18th 2021

If you are reading this you don't need an explanation of what this cart can do, how does it work? that's where I come in, it works as advertised but is it fast? yes it loads games fast, as you may know the CD support is on beta stage at the time of this "review"

If you have a pristine collection and want to keep your carts looking good consider this cart a jukebox player, you are trying to make a game? test it on this cart, homebrew, you know all the possibilities so grab it whenever it's available if you have a Jaguar you need this cart.
