It`s been a roller coaster. I returned my Level Hike HDMI cable and was suggested this. So I ordered it for my upgraded PS1.
The positives:
Unlike the Level Hike, this cable didn`t have a death grip on my port and it had working sound (the sound kept cutting out on the other one. On my PS2, the picture looks fantastic having the RGB 480i picture upscaled to 1080p (or 720p in 4:3 mode).
The negatives:
Unfortunately, the main reason I got this was for my PS1. The picture is sharp, a little too sharp and bright. I can see the dithering clear as day because the black levels are so bright they`re grey. The 240p picture is so harsh blown up like this without some kind of filter, it just looks wrong. Looks like I`m going to have to go for a more expensive solution.
Conclusion:
If you have a PS2, it`s a great cheap alternative for HDMI. If you have a PS1, I`d invest in a RAD2X HDMI cable or a Retrotink upscaler (which I`m going to do next). If you need something cheap to hook up to a modern set, this will do in a heartbeat.
