Incredibly poor quality. The stick somewhat resembles a OEM if you squint, but the feel is terrible. It has a cheap, sticky feel and the accuracy on screen is very bad. I tested it with several games; in GoldenEye, my cursor was drifting on its on at the menu screen. The unit itself it not even physically fit in my controller. Save your money for a proper OEM or a proper third party alternative,
It's definitely firmer than the 'gamecube' style replacement, and with the lower fulcrum point, it mimics the OEM sticks better than anything else I've tried. Similar internals, but it uses a pair of potentiometers for positioning, rather than optical sensors. In practice, there's virtually no difference that I've been able to tell between this an an OEM stick. I love this and I'm so glad that we have the ability to take what are now otherwise useless controllers and make them work again, without having to reply on scavenging sticks. More repro parts that are closer to the originals means these things can be enjoyed for so much longer.
This works good, but it's not the best. This stick is pretty rigid and hard to control. I installed this in my original n64 controller, and I used it to play Mario 64 and Bomberman 64. It works, but it wasn't a very pleasant experience. It was really hard to move Mario over obstacles and it made most levels almost impossible to complete. I don't recommend it. You're better off fixing your original n64 joy sticks instead of buying this. I bought some new joystick gears from ebay, and I used those to fix my old n64 joysticks and now they work good as new. Fixing your old joysticks is easy and it's way better than buying non OEM replacement sticks. I would only buy this stick as a last resort. The gamecube version of this stick is pretty nice, but nothing beats the original OEM N64 sticks. I wish Stone Age Gamer would sell replacement analog stick parts instead of replacement sticks. That would be way better in my opinion. That would be better for the environment and better for historical preservation. But to each their own. This stick was worth a try and it should be fine for most average gamers. Especially after they break it in for a while. Thanks for reading and have a great day!
