    Quality cable without a gamble

Posted by Reviewer on Dec 1st 2025

The cable feels durable and is a good quality build. I have only briefly tested the cable on an n64 through a scaler and it looked fine without any graphical issues. I had first played with a no name $5 cable that was perfectly playable, but it had some minor graphical problems, that seemed to be caused by interference. For this price the cable does not look leaps and bounds better than that cheap cable but the overall quality and shielding is great. I do not foresee having any issues with the cable getting damaged when swapping it between different consoles. If you pick up this cable you wont have to grab another one and there is no gamble with whether your no name cable is good quality.

    Best stock option.

For running a bone stock N64 this is your best option for video hookup. It`s a big difference compared to standard composite cables especially when for on screen text. The cable is solid and feels well made. The connection to the back of my N64 was a positive click when fully seated and feels secure. I`m very happy with the quality of this cable. I recommend this on a CRT with an s-video input which is how I use it.

    Fantastic

This video cable is quality and definitely is better than the composite output. Paired with the retrotink 4k it is a dream on the OLED screen.

    Awesome for N64

Posted by Gabriel on Aug 13th 2025

I tested with my N64 and quality was amazing. I was thinking of upgrading my N64 initially to get a better output, but after seeing the quality with this, I`m not sure it`s worth it.

    Quality cable

Good shielding, good overall quality compared to the cheap stuff you find online. Reasonable price all things considered. Best way to play an unupgraded 64.

A must have for retro gamers

To get the best image out of your N64 without upgrade! Games look so much better than with typical composite or RF cables.

The SNES supports component cables, so I would recommend using that if possible. S-video isn`t TOO much different, but it is noticible.

    S-video cable

Posted by Beverly on Dec 16th 2024

It's a decent cable. I have a no name a/v cable with composite and s-video connectors that has identical video quality to the insurrection industries one so take that how you will. It's expensive for what it is and I don't know that I can recommend it based on my experience. Unless you are experiencing some obvious graphical issues or you have an (irrational) FOMO on graphical quality, just stick with what you have. I've wasted so much money on getting the “best” gear instead of just enjoying the game.

    N64/Gamecube looks great!

Posted by Dan on Dec 9th 2024

Love having a clear picture for my N64 games on my CRT.

The games still look pretty good on component, but S-Video really allows you to see everything in the game with minimal distortions. As RGB is not natively available on N64 (and is only a slight improvement to the S-Video output to my eyes), I`d say this is probably the best possible way to play N64.
