Hi there. Kris from Stone Age Gamer here. Now the Evercade is a great platform. It's got a lot of great games and it's it's built up quite a reputation for itself as a well, it's a great place for retro games to be played. But have you ever held an Evercade and thought to yourself, I wish this was a little bit more pocket sized? Well, this exists from hyper mega tech. This is the Super Pocket and it shrinks the Evercade down into, well, something pocket sized. Let's take a look.

[00:00:29] Well. All right. This is the Super Pocket. This is compatible with Evercade cartridges, because even though it says it's from hyper mega tech, that is a, a new brand from the company that makes Evercade. So this is an officially licensed product. This isn't some, third party doodad that just happens to play Evercade cartridges. This is the Capcom flavored one. It's got 12 arcade classics built in, including Street Fighter two, 1942, Final Fight, and, well, Megaman isn't exactly an arcade classic, but we'll take a look at what's actually on the cartridge once we get in there. So this is the packaging. Pretty nice box. I will say that I had a slightly difficult time opening it, because you'd think you'd just slice these guys and pull it open, but that seems pretty tight. But there's a little tab on the bottom. This was a lot easier to get open. I just wanted to give that a test run before I got on camera. I haven't actually messed with this thing at all yet, so let's crack it open and see what's in the box.

[00:01:22] All right. That's it. We have. What have we here? Over 40 carts available. Get more games. Over 400 games available. Does it feel like this opens more? Oh, there we go. Okay, cool. This is, why I used to love getting these little pamphlet folder poetry looking things in my old video game. So we've got, Atari, Duke Nukem. Really? Just an ad for, advocate games and some, a quick start guide. Okay, so we've got a game menu. You can start, coin up as the select button. We've got a headphone jack power and oh, that's the power switch and that's the charging thing. And then you got the little indicator lights. And. Yeah, look at that. All right, so you've got your basic information here. Let's see what we've got cooking here. There's the actual unit itself. Just going to go ahead and okay there we go. Oh it's tiny. This is actually, really adorable. It's got some weight to it, too. I guess it's the guess the battery. Is there anything else in here? I would assume a charge cable? Yeah, that looks like there's a charge cable right in there. How do you open this? There we go. Well, I'm just trying to do it without ripping anything in there. Look at that. I ripped cardboard anyway. Go figure. There's a charge cable. It's USBc that. Goes right here in the bottom. Okay, so here is the Capcom Edition hyper mega tech super pocket. There's our headphone jack. There's our usb-C cable. Oh. That's interesting. I was wondering how I was going to handle stuff like Street Fighter with all these four buttons. So you got your D-pad, four face buttons, and then two sets of shoulder buttons on the back. Here you've got L1, L2, R1, and R2. That's interesting. I have never really considered playing, a game with something like that. How? I wonder how that works. Let's turn it on and find out, shall we?

[00:03:33] All right. Super Pocket Screen looks pretty nice. Not getting much glare either. Off of my ceiling lights, which is nice. All right, I'm going to go with select. Oh, no. All right. It's x y a b. I'm a Nintendo guy so I'm used to. Oh boy. All right. So that's that's going to be a, choose your challenge easy mode. I'm going to go with normal mode. Looking for an authentic arcade experience. This mode will test the skills of most seasoned gamers. I am very seasoned. Thank you very much. Okay, we've got some games. We've got Streetfighter two, hyper Fighting Strider mercs 1942, 1943, 1944, final Commando, Captain Commando, Final Fight, Forgotten Worlds, Ghouls and Ghosts, and Mega man. Okay. 123456. Seven eight. Nine. Ten. 11. 12. Mega man is not an arcade hit. That's okay. I'm just into semantics. All right, well, let's go for it. Let's try Mega man out. Let's see how this works. Okay, it sounds legit so far. Okay. Did you have to press start on the next game so that you could press a. It's been a while since I've played it, I guess. Hi. Let's see how we do. Mega man is really good for now. All right. Not even a shred of input lag in the screen is very nice to get in there. Looks, looks looks pretty nice to me. It's got a very sharp look to it. All right, well, that's Mega man. It seems to work pretty well. I think the real test is going to be streetfighter. I mean, playing a platformer with these kind of controls, that's not that big a deal, but it's. I'll have to start incorporating these two L and R buttons.

[00:05:23] All right. Let's go to quit. Oh, wait a second. Display. What do we got here? Oh, we can play in pixel perfect mode. Full scale, full screen. Okay, so it's not stretching it. It's just. I guess it is stretching it a little bit. Scan lines. Oh, we can add scan lines. Isn't that neat? Let's go with strong scan lines. Let's see what this looks like. Kind of hard sell on a black screen. Oh, okay. Oh, okay. That certainly looks like scan lines on a handheld. Which, you know, I'm trying to think it handheld. So how did they have more like a dot matrix kind of screens, you know, less light, less scan lines. Not really. I mean, I can see the pixel. Perfect. It's got a little bit less of a border there. That's that's not nothing. All right. It's pretty cool.

[00:06:23] All right, let's try another game on the Super Pocket. Let's get out of here and go to Street Fighter because that's going to be the real test. All right. Let's start with something simple. Let's start with real. See how well we do throwing fireballs and stuff. All right, so kick. Kick. Oh, boy. Kick is the stick. Is the shoulder button. Okay, that works for you, So let's push our punches on this. This first punch is on the shoulder button. That's tough. That's not easy to do on the deep. It's actually not bad. It's. As I say that I can't do I can't do a dragon punch. There it goes.

[00:07:12] All right, now that we've messed around with Street Fighter a little bit, this thing does take Evercade cartridges. So what we do for that? We're going to take this out here, which I have to assume is just like a a placeholder, right? Oh, there we go. Wow. That's, that's in there. That is not easy to yoink out. Was this a little, QR code? But let's, let's see. I have a copy of Sydney Hunter here. I'm going to go ahead and grab that. Plunk that in there. What? You get out a street fighter. Settle down there, buddy. Quit. We're going to plunk, Sydney Hunter in here. Let's see what happens. So we go to the menu and we can switch over to advocate mode. So the Capcom stuff is all just built in. This is just a placeholder cart. It's not an actual advocate car. But if we go in here, we've got the Sydney Hunter collection. Look at that. We just jump right into it and it works like a charm. Oh, look at you. Acclaim. Oh, acclaim. Good times. And here we are playing Sydney Hunter on The Advocate, greeting stranger. So there you go. There you have it. That is the Super Pocket, compatible with Evercade. And it's compatible with arcade games. This one has Capcom games built right into it. It's a nice little design. It's pretty compact. The shoulder buttons take some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, it's a pretty decent solution. And, well, there you go.
