When it comes to the original Xbox, control options aren’t nearly as plentiful as most other retro platforms. Thankfully the folks at Retro Fighters have changed that with the this, a modern wireless solution for Xbox. Let’s take a look.

This is the Hunter wireless controller for Xbox. It comes with this dongle which plugs directly into your Xbox console. The controller itself features all of the same functionality as the original Microsoft ones, except with a few refinements. There are hall effect analog sticks and triggers to prevent drift, a textured grip for added comfort, pressure sensitive buttons, and of course, it’s wireless.

The back and start buttons have been moved to the center of the controller, and the black and white buttons have been mapped to the L and R buttons located above the triggers.

For size comparison, here it is next to the original Xbox controller. As you can see, it’s quite a bit smaller, and features a more modern style d-pad.

Here it is next to the Controller S. The size and weight are much more comparable between these two, and the D-pad is much more similar in style.

Now let’s see it in action.

Here is the Hunter being used to play Soul Calibur II on Xbox connected to a CRT television with standard composite cables. As you can see, pressing the white button and pressing the left shoulder button perform the same actions. There is also no perceptible input lag for both the buttons and the sticks. It’s all very straightforward, and ready to go out of the box.

The Hunter from REtro Fighters is available now at Stone aGe Gamer, so you can make playing your original Xbox feel like a much more modern experience.  Thanks for watching everyone, if you like what you saw, please follow, comment, like, subscribe, and let us know, what do you think of theHunter for Xbox?
