    Better than the Original

Posted by Christian on May 16th 2021

An amazing alternative, and in my opinion upgrade to the stock Dreamcast controller. The layout, comfort, and quality of the buttons all surpass my personal experience with a stock controller. And, the cord comes out of the top of the controller like you would expect out of most any console controller. AND, the d-pad doesn't feel completely useless on this controller. I feel like I can confidently play platformers again without a bunch of wrong inputs due to a mushy and akward d-pad like the original had. The only let down, and the reason for the four star rating, is the thumbstick. It works well, and I've had no issue with accuracy, but it's just too loose for me personally. I realize this was an intentional decision to better mimic the feel of the original, but in my opinion they should have just used something a bit more stiff.

    Great Dreamcast controller!

I was a bit skeptical after reading/watching reviews talk about the loose analog stick and triggers. Turns out I was worried about nothing! The stick is looser than your average analog stick but I actually prefer it now for most DC games. The addition of digital triggers is great for fighting games and for getting that perfect crazy dash in Crazy Taxi.

I'll probably eventually buy 3 more.

Bad analog stick ruins an otherwise great controller

Posted by Casey Cantwell on Apr 22nd 2021

I should have listened to all the negative reviews for this thing. Almost everything about this controller feels great. The buttons, the D-Pad, and the grip and feel. All way better than the original DC controller. Triggers are okay, they don't feel amazing, but they work. But the analog stick is what really ruins this controller. Right out of the box, the stick feels like it's already been through years and years of abuse. It is so loose and has so little resistance. It is honestly one of the worst analog sticks I have ever felt. I tried playing Sonic Adventure with it, but I could not confidently move Sonic around the course collecting rings like I can with an original DC controller. It sucks because I really like the Brawler64 as an alternative to the original N64 controller, and was hoping the StrikerDC would be similar for the DC. But nope.

A solid modern replacement with a few caveats

Posted by Chad on Apr 17th 2021

I picked one of these up and I've honestly had a weird time adjusting to it. The analog stick is a lot more sensitive over the original Dreamcast controllers, the buttons are more clicky instead of mush feeling, and the Dpad isn't very good feeling.

However I got used to handling it and the weird sensitivity and it's honestly gone from a product I wasn't happy with to one I do genuinely enjoy. I think the only major caveat I still have with it is the dpad not feeling very responsive in certain directions. It's funny for a controller being aimed towards fighters, its not quite that great for them! However for anything I tried on the Dc it works flawlessy and feels a little more modern even.

While a pricier alternative, I can say if you don't mind getting used to a different analog/button feel, this thing works wonders. Also way comfier for big hands than the original controllers.

    Comfortable and modern

Posted by Chris B on Apr 12th 2021

I have two of these and they're my go-to DC controller. My hands are comfortable and my thumb doesn't slip off the analog stick like it does on the original controllers. The cord is also nice and long so I can sit comfortably on the couch. My one wish is that they had a little more heft to them. Recommended!

    Awesome

Great controller, I'm glad I took the chance to try it. It's replaced my Ps1 adapter for the DC that I've used for years. The design is great and the quality is better then expected, this is designed by Gamers there is no doubt.
