    Very cool

Nice controller that brings life to Atari 2600. I loved to play classic games with the analog, its precise and demands less effort than the og controller. The paddle I didnt tested yet because no paddle games worked with it.

A Must Buy for Atari fans

Posted by The Retro Viking on Feb 2nd 2023

Obviously, the main selling point for this gamepad is its ability to mimic the functionality of the original Atari ``paddle`` controllers and to that end, it works perfectly. As soon as mine arrived I hooked it up, popped in Kaboom, and on my first play scored higher than I ever did with the original controls.
If it has any drawbacks at all is that a directional pad may have been better in place of the thumbstick, but at least the thumbstick is comfortable to use.
If you like the Atari 2600, you need this gamepad.

    Not for vintage computers.

Posted by Craig on Sep 23rd 2022

Great packaging, great look and feel, but doesn't work with the vintage computers I wanted to use it with. Incompatible with C64, Vic20, TI 99/4A (via adapter), etc. Having it connected to the C64 disabled four rows of keyboard keys... Quite disappointing as I really wanted a d-pad control. I presume it works as intended on Atari 2600 and the fault is mine.

    Great controller

Posted by Brian on Jan 25th 2022

I was disappointed to find out I couldn't use a Sega Genesis controller with the Retron 77 so I was very happy to find this controller. I know it's not how Atari games were designed to be played but this controller is so much better when I want to play for a while. Plus it has a paddle controller built in so it's like getting two controllers for the price of one.

Hyperkin Ranger Premium atari 2600 controller

Posted by Andrew Greico on Oct 7th 2021

Atari controllers are notorious for breaking. Even OEM controllers failed pretty easily. Hyperkin brings durability and quality to this controller. The controller itself feels sturdy in your hands. The combination of the paddle and the joystick leaves a bit to be desired in the way of ergonomics.

I have a Bally Astrocade that does a nice job of combining the joystick, paddle and a trigger into one controller. I think Hyperkin could have taken a look at this design and engineered a better conglomerate controller for the atari.

High marks for quality and durability, but low marks for ergonomics and implementation.

Great control, no delays, very comfortable. The cable is also quite long.

    Excellent shipping and product!

These controllers arrived from Stone Age Gamer in high quality packaging to protect these excellent controllers. The controllers work great and are excellent quality. The cords are super long (I think they are 10 feet). I recommend this product!
