    Evercade Exp

Posted by Curtis P on Aug 25th 2023

This is an excellent upgrade to an already great handheld system. The addition of TATE mode and an updated display make this a pretty good deal at this price. The included Capcom library is awesome. I like and play several of these games regularly. The included Irem collection is decent, if nothing else for a good port of R-Type. I`ve heard complaints of people having problems with cartridges being hard to remove, but I have not experienced this thus far. The included wi-fi makes it really easy to update and to get the secret games. I bought this to replace my original Evercade after leaving it at a hotel. After having this for a few months, I found my original one, but I`m not disappointed at all. I`m happy to have made the upgrade. If I had any knock, it would be the minimal design on the console. I like the asthetic of the original and how it matches the VS console and controllers.

    Great handheld!

I was skeptical, but with all the new cart offerings and especially the Indie collections, this is my go-to handheld. Feels great inthe hands, screen quality is great. Recommend!

    Better than I was expecting

Posted by Thane Ahrens on Feb 19th 2023

My expectations for this handheld system weren`t high and playing with it for just a few minutes I was loving it. It`s been 3 days of playing on it so far and no problems, just fun.

The device has a good weight to it, not heavy but not light either, doesn`t feel flimsy cheap at all. The cartridges fit tight, a little less tight may be desired by some people but it`s still easy enough to pull the carts out with just my fingers. The battery doesn`t last long unfortunately but charges up quickly. The device will get warm too but doesn`t overheat when playing. That`s about all I can think of for any cons.

    Some pros:
    • Dpad feels good, doesn`t hurt your thumb to use. While buttons don`t click, a little spongey, they feel good too.
    • The tate mode is portrait mode, lets you play it holding the system vertical & has a couple extra buttons for when using this feature. It`s a bit cramped feeling to play this way but still nice to have the feature. Press the T button once and display rotates the image instantly and when pressed again, instantly back to horizontal.
    • The arcade games are emulated perfectly and look great on this. The 5 ``hidden`` locked games are nothing special but it`s cool they are there. You can find how to unlocked them with a quick internet search but it`s the built-in Capcom arcade games you`ll be having fun with and some of the arcade games on the Irem cartridge this comes with are quite fun to play on this and look much better than expected on it.
    • The screen looks good, games don`t look too tiny on screen and are crisp & clear. The CRT scanline settings are done nicely too, if you want to turn that on. You can also connect it to your TV (has HDMI) and play that way (720p resolution output).
    • Speaker sound is good and loud enough without headphones but headphones will greatly increase the quality (must used wired headphones).
    • It`s almost completely setup for you. Just put in your wifi password, let it download the automatic firmware update and then everything is done.
    • You get a cartridge of arcade games to enjoy and many built-in Capcom arcade games too. You get 2 full color booklets to go with the games included. These games are just like playing on an arcade machine.

For the low price of this thing, it`s a great deal. I did not expect to enjoy playing on it as much as I am and the quality of the picture surprised me too. Holding it and seeing what all you got to play before even buying more game carts makes this feel like an exceptionally good deal. You can play UK and US versions of the carts too, it`s not region locked and the games are the same regardless of which place they come from which is nice because it`s much easier to find the UK versions of some of these carts.
