At long last, there's a new mainline Mega Man game in the works. Mega Man: Dual Override (basically Mega Man 12) is on its way in 2027, and as a huge fan of the Blue Bomber's classic adventures, I couldn't be more excited. And what do I do when I'm excited? I look back on how we got here!
For the next, well, however long it's going to take for Dual Override to come into existence, I'm going to be running through the entire classic series of Mega Man games and coming up with 3 things I like about them. Obviously, there will be some games that I like more than 3 things about. But in the interest of brevity, I'm sticking with the first three that come to mind.
So, without further ado, here are three great things about Mega Man in Dr. Wily's Revenge.

Portable Mega Man!
There’s something to be said for this being the first proper portable Mega Man. And like the best of these kinds of things, they didn’t just make a portable version of the original game. No, they went ahead and combined aspects of Mega Man and Mega Man 2 for NES to make a super cool hybrid game, setting the standard for most of the Game Boy Mega Man titles to come. I’m also a big fan of how they paid attention to the Game Boy’s limitations when it came to speed and screen size. You were rarely limited by the sprite sizes (unlike a certain Game Gear game I know) and the weirdo slow-moving round pellets that replace the traditional “lemons” from the NES games helped put a unique stamp on the GB sub-series. It felt like the real deal, but in the palm of your hand. Can’t beat that with a stick.
This wild rendition of Elec Man’s stage music
The stage themes in this game are so nuts, and I love them all. They could have just played it straight like Capcom did in other games like DuckTales for Game Boy and just had the GB recreate the NES tunes, but much like how the rest of the game plays like a remix of Mega Man, the soundtrack is the same way. The songs you love from Mega Man are here, but they sound radically different, and this version of Elec Man’s stage, one of my favorite stage tunes in the series, is just awesome. Enjoy.
Enker: The Mega Man Killer
The Mega Man Killers are so freaking cool, and Enker here was the very first one in line. He’s got this ridiculous weapon that absorbs shots and fires them back, he has a crazy cool design, and he was simply imposing as heck when I first got to him. His stage music was pretty awesome too.

And there you have it. Like I said with the other two we've covered so far, there's plenty to love in all these games. These are just the highlights that came to my mind. But what about you? What do YOU love about Rockman World...err... Mega Man in Dr. Wily's Revenge?
