After buying the Hyperkin and only liking parts of it I was looking for something a little better.
I can definitely say this controller is better. The D-Pad feels so much looser but more responsive. The alternative with the Hyperkin brand controller was very still and felt like inputs were being eaten while playing. This controller is fairly light as well so it feels like the right fit in the hands.
The one gripe I have about the controller compared to the Hyperkin is the fact that the cable is so short. You really have to be close to the console in order to use it. Not a deal breaker but definitely something to keep in mind.
In summary, the price alone is worth it for the adapter which is handy to using on a PC Engine (which is one reason I purchased it) but the fact the controller is actually really good makes this a worthwhile purchase.
With so many of the newly manufactured 3rd party controllers for retro consoles being garbage, it's sometimes feels like a risk when you're getting one. But not this controller. I played through many games with this controller and to me it feels as good as my original PCE controllers do, and it was nice to have some fresh feeling buttons since some of my PCE controller buttons are getting a little mushy. It feels good enough that it has become my go-to controller that I use on my PCE. The only drawback is that it wasn't working properly with the Turbo Tap. But otherwise, it functioned flawlessly. If you need a new controller for your TG16 or PCE, this one is a great choice!
I got a few of these as the ones that I have on my TG16 have issues. I set my expectations low as allot of 3rd party controllers always feel cheap and flimsy. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened these up and started using them. While they are definitely not the original controller they are a good compromise for the price and I am pretty happy with them. I may buy two more so I can load up my Turbo tap.
