The Super NES Mouse is a great accessory that helps make a number of games way better than they would be without it. But finding a working one can be a little difficult, and even if you do, they've still got a short cord, and are prone to breaking down. Thankfully the Hyper click Mouse from Hyperkin is here to make all your SNES Mouse-style games work better than never.

Hi, everyone. Kris from Stone Age Gamer here. This is Mario Paint It's a beloved Super NES classic, but unfortunately it required this to use the Super NES mouse. This is my extraordinarily discolored super nes mouse. But Mario Paint was an art program that required this mouse to use. And in fact, there are a handful of Super Nintendo games that Utilized this super cool mouse. Thing is, well, this is extremely common. While this is a little bit less common. Not that it's the most expensive thing in the world, but you just don't see them laying around as often as you see Mario paint cartridges. Thankfully, the folks at Hyperkin made this. This is the hyper click retro style Mouse for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and it replaces The old Super Nintendo mouse. So you can play. Mario Paint in style. Let's take a look.

[00:00:51] All right. Here we are. We have the hyper click retro style mouse for Super Nintendo here. This is from the fine folks at Hyperkin and it's a replacement mouse for the Super Nintendo. So let's see what this thing looks like. I'm not seeing anything. That's a pretty nice looking box. Your standard hyper can fair with the logo in the corner. The mouse is upside down on the box, which makes me feel like I'm holding it upside down every time a hole in the box, which bugs me out a little bit. But what are you going to do? Hyper click retro style mouse doesn't seem like it's got any crazy stickers on its seal. So it's a it's open from the bottom because this looks like an easier spot to do that for without me ruining the box in some way, shape or form. So here we go.

[00:01:34] And let's see what is in the box. We've got a nice little tray. Oh, my. Oh, wow. There's all kinds of stickers. Wow, this is bigger than I imagined it. Let's see here. So you got a hyper sticker live. Well, thanks for your purchase. All that business. That's rather nice. But look at this thing here. Okay? We have. This is what I was most curious about when I took this thing out. So here is it in comparison to the Super Nintendo and you can see it is considerably larger. This is a much beefier situation here, but that's pretty comfortable actually. That's a big, huge difference with the buttons. They have a very modern click to them. These guys, if you are like me and you use the ever loving heck out of your Nintendo one, you know that these buttons tend to get a little worn out and they don't have very much. They don't have a lot of give to them and they don't feel super responsive. This my right click in particular was one that was always bothering me. This is very, very clicky. I like that quite a bit and even though it is huge, it is very comfortable or so. It almost feels too small. This is a it's just got a nice heft to it.

[00:02:56] Oh, look, the most important thing I noticed is this straight, straight off the bat. So this is using air sensor to be the mouse. Where is this? Take off. This guy here is the old fashioned ball mouse, which is a technology that we seem to have largely moved on from. You never seen the inside of this thing. You can twist that little guy there and it's just got a ball inside of it. And these little spinners inside here, when you roll the ball around, that is what moves the mouse around. This is what all mice, mouses, mouse and many much mouse. And this is what they all used to be in the old days. They all used to use these balls and you get stuff in them and then they become kind of a pain in the butt to clean and keep clean, which is why it came with this little red guy here. But this new one here is all fancy and modern and Lasry. So isn't that just snazzy?

[00:03:54] That's got a little button down here too. I wonder what that is. What that's for might be some sort of recentering or something like that. I don't see instructions in the box. It seems that there is probably instructions for online. If you really wanted to learn about this optional optical mouse, provide smooth and responsive cursor control. Yeah. There you go. It is an optical mouse. That's the official name for something like that. This is another huge difference. Here is the cord. The super nice mouse had a hilariously short cable. I remember playing Mario Payne as a kid, sitting at just sitting on the floor in front of the TV. It's is a lot shorter. I think this is a what, a three foot cable at most. That seems about right. Three foot. This guy looks much longer to me. And it is. Yeah, this is, I think six foot cable whatever the standard super needs controllers since they aren't here exactly how long the cable is but oh there it is, six foot cable. Look at that. I figured it out just by looking at it. Ray, I see a six foot. It was good. Once you play your games at a nice longer distance and wow, I got to say, I'm pretty impressed by this thing thus far. I think what we really need to do now is see it in action and see how it works.

[00:05:17] All right. Here we are. Sorry for the weird camera angles, trying to figure out the best way to get the mouse in the camera and the screen in the camera because, well, you got to have it on a flat surface there. But here it is. Yeah. Using this whole infrared light, it is silky smooth. I moving around here. No problem. Let's see. A shrink, Mario. Just like that. And come back up. Come on. There you go. All right. Which one falls on his head at the end? Yep, that's the one. All right, let's see if we can hit Mario. Oh, golly. Yeah, well, that that is some crystal clear timing. Obviously, there's zero input lag. It's just I'm moving around the mouse as it is. Click on Mario. These guys do sit ups for a second. And that's the thing.

[00:06:06] And here we are moving around in the game and everything seems to be crystal clear here. And obviously the right click doesn't do much in this right here. I'm trying to remember a situation where the right click really works, but I think probably a really good test would be gnat attack. So let's do a quick round of nat attack and see how this. Works out for me. Nice and quick. Yeah. This is a this is I mean, I don't know what else to show. This is a this is a super nes mouse. And it is extremely it's nice to be able to just kind of move it around as quickly as you Want, because in the original Super Nintendo one, you have the but because it's the ball, it doesn't you know, anything gets stuck in it. Then you're stuck. Not with the the mouse not really responding. And this is just as quick as can be. Let's try let's try one more game. Oh, there's you're right click, right click. Pause it and we can exit. Yeah. I think I'd like to try a quick game of Arkanoid: Doh it Again. Let's, let's try that out.

[00:07:20] Okay. So here we are with Arkanoid: Doh it Again. You can see I'm moving the mouse up and down to choose where I'm going here. Let's go with one player. And obviously you don't have a spinner on a Super Nintendo here, but the mouse is a really good way to play this game. And oh, look at that. It is perfect, silky smooth. It is just it's doing exactly what I wanted to know. No weird glitchy mess or anything like that. This is a that is as good as you're going to get for a mouse on the Super Nintendo this is a huge improvement over the original Nintendo on I love it and I'm probably going to spend a lot more time playing arc annoyed for the rest of the dash to grab that laser and just let it hit the lightning bolt thing add doesn't matter. It doesn't matter.

[00:08:09] Let's go and pause the game and there you go. There's the mouse in action. It is fantastic. It does exactly what is written on the box and it handles it with extraordinary ease. There you go.
