    THE BEST Custom EverDrive X7

Posted by Derek Gerhard on Sep 19th 2021

I have received the Violet EverDrive with the Green label, and let me tell you this cart is unreal! The quality alone of the cart I chose was far superior to anything I’ve tried before.

I also ordered a normal version of the X7 from the actual website but I only have the violet design loaded with games I own. I have went back and forth whether I should return the other generic version but have decided to keep it because even though it supports 32gb microsd cards. It’ll only have about 85 pages of games loaded on at a time, which is unfortunate but that’s not a real negative in my mind because how many game of those will you really play fully?

The violet version of this cart has a premium feel above everything else on the market. It honestly feels like a genuine version of a Nintendo cart with a load of games I have put on it myself. Sometimes you receive items from stores and question the authenticity of them but this i can confidently say is the best cartridge for your Gameboy roms and from a great knowledgeable team that puts your needs first.

It was shipped extremely fast and the packaging was great! I am looking at another X5 from SAG to load even more of my roms on because sometimes 1 just isn’t enough!

Fiddly, but well worth the price.

The Everdrive GB X7 is perhaps the easiest of the X7 to recommend, as the save states alone make this well worth it. The RTC is also a great addition for all those Pokemon games you may have on hand.

The obvious uses of having multiple games on one cart aside, the real reason I got an Everdrive is for fan translations and hacks. There are some excellent fan translations of games that we never got, and being able to play them on original hardware is bliss.

That said, there is one tiny critique I have: The positioning of the in-game menu button. Due to what I can only assume are technical limitations, the button to access the in-game menu is located on the PCB and is activated by pressing the case in. This is not as clunky as one would assume, but having a switch closer to the top would make it more accessible when playing on something other than the GBA.

Ultimately, the quibble about the button placement is not enough to detract from the sheer versatility of this product. It is one of the easiest Everdrive recommendations I can make aside from the Everdrive GBA X5.

    Everdrive GB X7

Amazing product, shipped quickly and delivered before the estimated date of arrival. Product was securely wrapped, and ready to plug and play.

Backups work perfectly, instruction manuals were on point, and every feature works as advertised. Best Everdrive on the Market for the GB/GBC. Also works inside the Super Gameboy 2.

    Fantastic piece of kit.

I've purchased a number of Everdrives from SAG over the years, and this one is as good as you would expect. The packaging on the deluxe version is sturdy and looks nice in a shelf when you don't have it out, and they include some nice documentation to help you get started.

The Everdrive itself is what you expect from Krikkz -- it works just as you'd imagine. Simple to add ROMs, update the firmware, and navigate the menus. As far as I know, this is 100% compatible with the official GB and GBC libraries. Sometimes I'll throw a GB/GBC in my backpack with my Everdrive, and it's a nice way to pass the time between shifts.

Not a whole lot to say in the negative, even my small nit-picks are trivial. With retro video games prices going up, it's nice to know these are an option.

    Childhood in a single cartridge

I love this flash card. It works flawlessly and it lets you hold all of your favorite games in 1 cartridge. It's worth every penny, especially if you travel a lot and bringing a cartridge collection would be a pain.

    A Premium Game Boy Flash-cart

Posted by Chris on Jan 5th 2021

This flash cart may be expensive compared to its cheaper alternatives, but nothing can compare to the quality, reliability, and features of this product. This flash cart works for Gameboy Color and Gameboy games and can quite easily fit the entire library for both systems, not that this would be a good idea. The firmware installation is easy, the file tree is configurable, and it is easy to navigate within the device. The best feature is the physical save-state button that accounts for the lack of buttons on the original hardware. Expensive, but worth the price if you are serious about gameboys.

It was my first ever flash cart, and I love it!
