    Easiest ODE install I’ve ever had to do. Works beautifully and is compatible with every game I’ve tested. Breathes new life into my old 3DO.

    This ODE was easy to install, took about 10 minutes. The quality looks decent. Had a minor issue with setting up the SD card though. Files need to be spot of rips from The media as Bin/Cue or ISO. I had some help from a community member in the Discord Group for the 3DO community. Got it running afyer some help. Great way to experience the 3DO library and media. After talking with Fixel the creator of this device there will be more customization options in the future. So personally i would recommend this to anyone wanting to play 3DO in a more authentic manner from a console.

    The ``Real Deal`` in 3DO ODE`s

    I`ve bought several things from Stone Age Gamer and have always been happy but this is, by far, the best thing I have ever bought from this website.

    The installation of the ODE was a little tricky as I had fused screws on the CD caddy so I couldn`t unscrew them even with an electric driver, so be aware of that, some models will still have the rails above the drive meaning you`ll have to remove those before you can clear the caddy for the ODE. I managed to remove them and that`s pretty much the only complication I stumbled across.

    After this though I was able to re-use the ribbon cables that came with the FZ-1 originally and after preparing the SD Card, I had it running.

    Every game I have run has done so flawlessly. I did notice on occasion that some games (one example was Drug Wars) did not boot until I reset the 3DO, but it did boot after a restart so that`s only a minor issue.

    Being able to move through a disk image queue or reset back to the ODE menu through the eject button was a stroke of genius and the built in storage manager makes up for the FZ-1 not coming with a manager by default. Even the 3DO Game Guru and all of the demo disks that came with 3DO Magazine work on the console through the ODE!

    I have absolutely no complaints with this device, it`s opened up a whole new world of 3DO gaming and I can assure prospective buyers that the cost is worth it!

    Fixed my dead 3DO

    This is a great little mod that adds a ton of functionality to a 3DO. Once you unscrew the old drive you just plug it in. It’s that simple. I would recommend getting or printing the 2.5 bracket especially if you decide to use a small drive and not an SD card. The only downside the mod for me was getting to the SD card without the SD card extension. Since this means you will have to open the console back up to get to it, but once you have it running there is little reason you may want to or need to until you want to add more games or do and update. All in All it’s a great mod from Fixel that brought my 3DO back from the dead.

    The 3DO experience

    It’s super easy to install, it doesn’t require any cutting, or soldering, and is easy to configure and get running. Throw a 128GB sd card in there and you can load up a majority of the 3DO library with no problem. As of this time the firmware is 1.0, and it has all the basic features you would expect. There’s room for improvement on the software side of things, but as far as compatibility goes, it’s been a 100% hit. It also has a built in save manager which was sorely lacking from the fz1 bios, as well as the ability to back up save data directly to the SD card. If you’re interested in the 3DO, you can’t do better than this.
